Super Bantam boxer Marvin Mabait woke up to good news this morning when he opened his cellular phone. A regular Philboxing.com reader, the Zamboanga City fighter was overjoyed when he saw the official press release of him signing with US based boxing promotional company, All Star Boxing, Inc. ?Napakasaya ko talaga nung nakita ko sa Philboxing ang balita kasi matutupad na po talaga ang pangarap ko (I was elated when I saw the news at Philboxing, because my dreams can now come true)," Mabait told this writer. The 25 year old boxer who holds a record of 18 wins against a solitary defeat and 2 draws is being managed by former Filipino boxing champion, Gerry Penalosa. The former fighter turned manager worked diligently to get his ward the deal with the Florida based boxing promotions, which announced the signing today. ?I am just waiting for his US visa, so he can campaign here,? said Penalosa who is currently in Los Angeles assisting his other fighter, super featherweight Michael Farenas. Mabait has now returned to training, less than two weeks after his most recent fight and victory against countryman Rey Las Pinas in Taguig City. All Star Boxing is planning to field him in their June 28th show in Kissimmee Florida, which will be Mabait?s US debut. ?Excited na talaga ako na makalaban sa States, kasi ito talaga ang pangarap ng mga boxers, lalo na ako (I am very excited to fight in the States, because this is a dream of most boxers, particularly me)," stated Mabait. Nicknamed ?The Chavacano Disaster?, Mabait is looking forward to fighting in the US and promises that he will give his best when he fights and trains. ?Ipapakita ko sa kanila yong best ko para hindi sila manghihinayang kung bakit nila ako kinuha.Gagawin ko ang lahat ng makakaya ko (I will show them my best effort so that they will not regret signing me. I will give it all I can)," promised the young fighter. Mabait is currently being trained by Gerry?s brother, Carl in Manila and if his visa arrives, his manager is planning to have him train alongside Farenas at the famous Wild Card Gym in Hollywood. ?Sabi nga palagi sakin ni Coach Carl (Penalosa) pagkakataon ko na raw talaga ito, sana matuloy na talaga ito (Coach Carl Penalosa always tells me that this might be my big break, I hope this will push through)," expressed an optimistic Mabait. Ang saya saya ko talaga ng mabasa ko ang balita, matutulungan ko na talaga ang pamilya ko. Sana nandoon ang swerte ko (I was really happy when I read the news, I will really be able to help my family. I hope I catch my break there)."
