NBA -- Controversial win pushes Nuggets' streak to 12 By Ricardo Gardunio PhilBoxing.com Wed, 20 Mar 2013 ![]() CHICAGO -- The Denver Nuggets increased their winning streak to 12 games following a thrilling and controversial 119-118 overtime decision over the short-handed Chicago Bulls Monday night at the United Center. The Nuggets were very effective early, pushed the tempo and easily outscored the Bulls in transition, 30-8. The Nuggets also dominated dominated the paint, 68-50, and were control mostly throughout the game, maintaining a comfortable lead. But the Bulls fought back from an eight-point deficit in the final 3:26 of the fourth quarter, capped by a Nate Robinson three that forced overtime. And that?s when things got dicey. The first controversial play came in overtime, with the Bulls leading 115-114, Ty Lawson drove to the rim and missed a layup, but center Kosta Koufas tipped the ball while it appeared to be still on the rim. The officials did not rule an offensive interference violation and therefore could not be reviewed. Coach Tom Thibodeau was irate with the officials and he made sure to let them know! After a Noah's gave the Bulls a 116-115 edge with 32 seconds left in overtime, Noah blocked a Wilson Chandler shot, which prompted the Nuggets to foul immediately. But Robinson missed one of two free throws, setting the stage for Denver's surge after Andre Iguodala drained a triple with 7.1 seconds to go. With one last chace to reverse the outcome, Bulls guard Marco Bellinelli caught an inbounds pass and drove strongly to the left baseline. His shot looked like it might be short, but Joakim was in position and tipped it in right before it reached the rim. The crowd went into a frenzy thinking that the game was won, only to have the officials review it and call the basket off for goal-tending. Thibodeau was so livid that he had to be restrained by his coaching staff. ?We felt like we got it stolen from us,? Bulls forward Carlos Boozer said after the game. Wilson Chandler came off the bench for the Nuggets and played superbly well with 35 points and nine rebounds while Robinson led the Bulls with 34 points and seven assists. Noah had another solid effort, 14 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, and seven blocks. The Bulls next game is Thursday when they play host to the Portland Trailblazers, and rookie sensation Damian Lillard. Kirk Hinrich and Taj Gibson are both very close to returning, and Derrick Rose?s status remains unknown. Rip Hamilton is reportedly done for the rest of the season.
