Top Rank to formally announce Donaire Jr. vs. Rigondeaux in NYC

Top Rank Boxing will officially announce the much awaited collision between super bantamweight champions, Nonito Donaire Jr. and Guillermo Rigondeaux in New York City this Thursday.
Donaire Jr., 2012?s Fighter of The Year and the former two?time Cuban Olympic gold medalist and is set to square off against each other at the famed Radio City Music Hall in midtown Manhattan on April 13, 2013. The fight will also be carried live by HBO through its World Championship Boxing series.
A news conference to formally announce the bout is scheduled for this Thursday, February 21, 2013 at The B.B. KING BLUES CLUB AND GRILL in Times Square at noon.
Donaire Jr. holds a record of 31 wins (20 KOs) against a single loss and is the WBO super bantamweight (122 pound) champion. He has also at one time been the holder of the IBF version of the belt.
Rigondeaux, besides having a stellar amateur and Olympic career is unbeaten as a professional. He boasts of a perfect 11 ? 0 record with 8 of them coming by knockout. He won the WBA 122 pound belt in 2010 and has successfully defended it four times.
Both fighters have expressed the desire to face each other in the past and they will have that opportunity to showcase their skills against each other at the historical venue.
Radio City Music Hall besides being a favorite cultural and entertainment venue is a leading tourist destination in New York. It plays host to the annual Christmas musical, The Radio City Christmas Spectacular which features the world famous dance group, The Rockettes.
Donaire versus Rigondeaux will only be the second professional boxing event in the venue?s 82 year history. In 1999, it hosted a light heavyweight title match between Roy Jones Jr. and challenger David Telesco which Jones Jr. won.
