Buhay Kamao Foundation launched, Pacquiao is honorary chairman PhilBoxing.com Fri, 18 Jan 2013 BACOOR, Cavite ? A non-profit organization aimed to help discover and develop world-class Filipino professional boxers and raise the quality of their lives during and after their respective careers was formally launched at Sophia?s Function Hall in Barangay Panapaan III last Tuesday here. Headed by veteran lady boxing promoter-manager and businesswoman Yolanda ?Yolly? Alfante as its founding president and with 8th time world division champion Rep. Emmanuel ?Pacman? Pacquiao as the honorary chairman, the Buhay Kamao Foundation (BKF) made its inaugural press conference attended also by Dr. Nasser Cruz, boxing chief the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) and American immigration lawyer Sydney Hall. ?We want to create a sustainable boxing program for the development of the young and promising boxers in the country and make them world champions,? said Alfante, who was already into boxing at the young age of 7 years old in Davao City. Alfante said that BFK is now constructing a descent boxing gym and facility in La Union that will help and support all professional boxers achieved their goals and victories in the sport. ?We want to also help the retired professional boxers look for new jobs or assist them how to start a new livelihood,? said Alfante, also now the new president of the revived Mindanao Professional Boxing Association (Minproba) and founding president of the Philippine Female Boxing Association (PFBA). Last year, BKF had already given a financial assistance to former Orient Pacific Boxing Federation champion Rolando Aldemir, who broke his leg in a vehicular accident in Davao City. It also gave a cash donation to the family of the late boxer Jog Alim, who died in a hospital after winning his fight in Mindanao last year. BKF also plans to help make the Philippines a mecca of the world boxing champions by producing more world title-holders and popular fighters in the likes of Pacquiao. Alfante also helped sent Pacquiao to USA to challenge and beat International Boxing Federation (IBF) super bantamweight champion Lehlohonolo Ledwaba on June 23, 2001 at the MGM Las Vegas. BKF, which also wants to give recognitions to outstanding boxers, trainers, managers, promoters and other individuals or companies that have contributed greatly in professional boxing in the country, will still have its grand launching this year upon the completion of its boxing gym in La Union. BKF?s other officers are vice-president Jung Wan Hwa, secretary Lolito delos Reyes, treasurer Leonora Jimenez, business manager Jenifer Jill Mumar, directors Shaun Doherty and Morick Abad. Among the honorary members are Laguna Mayor Antonino Aurelio, former world champion Gerry Penalosa, ex-Philippine bantamweight king Mario Sumalinog, promoters Leonil Lazarito and AlJoe Jaro, Team Pacquiao assistant trainer Raides ?Nonoy?
