CUELLO AND JARO AWAIT ZHONG VS MARTINEZ WINNER
By Rene Bonsubre, Jr. PhilBoxing.com Wed, 21 Nov 2012

WBC Silver minimumweight champion Denver "The Excitement" Cuello and his manager and promoter Aljoe Jaro will leave for China on November 22 and will be among the interested spectators during the fight between Javier "Demonio" Martinez Resendiz of Mexico and Xiong Zhao Zhong of China for the vacant WBC world minimumweight title on November 24 at the Kunming City Stadium.
The World Boxing Council (WBC) has mandated that the winner of the Zhong-Martinez Resendiz bout will defend the world crown against Cuello within 90 days. Cuello, who hails from Iloilo, is the number one ranked contender in the 105 lb division. Jaro informed through e-mail that they will negotiate after the bout as to where Cuello will challenge for the title.
If they cannot reach any agreement, Jaro said that they will settle matters during the WBC convention in Cancun, Mexico scheduled on December 2 to 8. Jaro also said that he plans to go to Las Vegas give support to Manny Pacquiao who will face Juan Manuel Marquez for the fourth time.
Cuello (32W-4L-6D, 21 KO's) earned the mandatory challenger status last May 19, 2012 when he stopped Mexican Ganigan Lopez in two rounds in Guanajuato, Mexico. In his last fight held in September, he beat Ivan Meneses by unanimous decision in a fight also held in Mexico.
The 25 year old Cuello, who also fights using the name Cuello D. Singwangcha to honor Thai boxing patron Naris Singwangcha, is one of the more articulate boxers in the Philippines. Pinoy boxing fans have seen him on GMA television as a guest boxing commentator
Zhong (19W-4L-1D, 11 KO?s) won the WBC lt.flyweight Silver title by unanimous decision against Osvaldo Razon of Mexico in his last fight. Martinez (13W-3L-2D, 6 KO?s) won the vacant Mexico 105 lb division title belt by stopping Armando Vasquez in six rounds last year. This was three months after Vasquez was knocked out in one round against two division WBO champion Donnie ?Ahas? Nietes in Bacolod City. Martinez also holds the WBC International Silver title.
