PhilBoxing.com

MAASIN CITY,SOUTHERN LEYTE - "Prince" Albert Pagara gave a memorable and devastating performance in front of his hometown fans to further his status as one of the best prospects in the country. Pagara decked his opponent Tawanrung Eausampan in the second round with a sharp right uppercut . Eausampan got up but was on wobbly legs and bleeding from the right eye prompting Referee Tony Pesons to stop the contest.

Official time was 1:45 of the second round. Seconds after the fight ended, the Thai had difficulty opening and closing his mouth and was advised to go to the hospital for a possible broken jaw.

Pagara fulfilled his pre-fight statement that he would avenge the loss of his stablemate, AJ Banal at the hands of Thai Pungluang Sor Singyu last month at the Mall of Asia Arena. After his impressive win, Pagara was awarded a trophy by Maasin City Mayor Maloney Samaco. This fight served as the main event of Maasin Pride IV.

The 18 year old Pagara improves to 14W-0L, 10 KO?s. This was the 22 year old Eausampan?s first recorded loss and he drops to 5W-1L, 2 KO's. This was also Pagara?s third win against a foreign opponent. He previously beat East African boxer Shabani Madilu by unanimous decision last year in Bacolod City and stopped Phupha Pro Nobnum of Thailand in two rounds last March at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel.

Albert?s brother, Jason ?El Nino? Pagara, was given a special award and cash incentives before the main event for winning the WBO International jr.welterweight title last August against Mexican Rosbel Montoya.

In the undercards, Jun ?Flash? Intor used an array of brutal body shots to stop Junel Busano in the 4th round. Time 2:59. Takaomi Naoma of Japan survived a bloodied nose in the opening round to beat Jamjam Ungon by unanimous decision in four rounds. All three judges scored it 39-37. In the opening bout of the evening, Bryan Lobitania beat Michael Beron by TKO in 2:12 of the second round.

The event was opened by amateur matches with Mandaue City beating Maasin City 4-2 in head to head match-ups. This fight card was held last Thursday was witnessed by an overflowing crowd at the Maasin City Gym.
