NBA -- Finally, Pistons win one
By T. Hubahib PhilBoxing.com Fri, 16 Nov 2012
DETROIT -- After a horrible 0-8 start, the worst in franchise history, the Detroit Pistons finally barged into the win column with an impressive 94-76 drubbing of the Philadelphia 76ers Wednesday night at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
The Pistons pounced on a sleeping 76ers squad and quickly built a 52-34 halftime lead that the visitors did not relinquish. Sixers head Doug Collins couldn't explain why his chargers were so lethargic against the winless Pistons. "I have no answers why we were so flat. I have no idea," Collins told NBA. com.
Detroit center Greg Monroe had a spectacular night -- 19 points, 18 rebounds and six assists. And without injured Sixers center Andrew Bynum, the Pistons easily outrebounded Philadelphia, 57-38.
Kyle Singler scattered 16 points while Tayshaun Prince and Brandon Knight had 15 points apiece for the Pistons, who made 35-of-73 field goals (47.9 percent) and 21-of-31 free throws (67.7 percent). The Pistons also had 27 assists, 12 more than the Sixers who couldn't get any offense going, connecting only 25 of 84 field goals for a miserable 29.8 percent.
Lavoy Allen led the Sixers with 14 points and Jrue Holiday added 12. But no other Sixer scored in double figures. (T. Hubahib)
