CUELLO READY TO BATTLE TALLER MENESES By Rene Bonsubre, Jr. PhilBoxing.com Sat, 29 Sep 2012 Denver ?The Excitement? Cuello-Singwangcha of the Philippines weighed in at 109 lbs while Ivan Meneses of Mexico stepped on the scales at 110 lbs during the official ?open to the public? weigh-in today in Plaza Morelia, Mexico. Cuello (31W-4L-6D, 21 KO?s), the WBC Silver titlist in the 105 lb division, is set to make his fifth appearance on Mexican soil. Promoter and manager Aljoe Jaro sent updates about the weigh-in and informed philboxing that Meneses has a three inch height advantage over Cuello as the pictures show but Cuello is unfazed. Meneses (18W-10L-1D, 10 KO?s) won the vacant IBF Latino lt.flyweight title in his last fight against Luis Ceja. Team Cuello are aware of the dangers of fighting Meneses especially that Cuello is next in line for a world title shot, possibly in early 2013. Cuello and Jaro left Manila last Thursday. Jaro had initially informed philboxing that they would leave early and proceed to Las Vegas to assist in the corner of WBC light middleweight champion Saul Alvarez in his September 15 fight against Josesito Lopez before going to Mexico but this didn?t push through. Cuello, just like his stablemate Sonny Boy Jaro, fights with the name Singwangcha to honor their sponsor, Thai boxing patron Naris Singwangcha. Team Cuello is staying at the Hotel Belo Morelia with retired US army and former Heavyweight boxer Carlos Vasquez, a Pinoy based Las Vegas base, who was just recruited by Jaro as a trainer. The fight will be held at the Auditorio del Bicentenario, Morelia, Michoac?n de Ocampo, Mexico. Jaro said that Cuello is used to fighting taller men and have knocked them out. The Mexican fight fans have shown their respect for Denver?s skills and power. Cuello wants to show the world that he is ripe for a world title shot and looks forward to fighting the winner of the WBC world title fight held in China between Zhao Zong and Javier Martinez. Team Cuello also requests for prayers for their success from Filipino fight fans.
