Philboxing exclusive: Denver Cuello to fight on Saul ?Canelo? Alvarez -Josesito Lopez card in Las Vegas

PhilBoxing.com

WBC Number 1 rated Straw weight (105 pounds) and Silver Champion Denver ?The Excitement? Cuello is Vegas bound. The 25 year old Cabatuan, Iloilo fighter will fight in the September 15th Golden Boy Promotions card featuring Saul ?Canelo? Alvarez and Josesito Lopez in the main event.

?Tuloy na po,? (It is on.) said Cuello in an interview with Philboxing.com. ?Naghahanap na lang ng makakalaban po,? (We are just looking for an opponent.) he added.

Cuello will fight in the undercard of the said event which will be held at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. ?Wala pa pong sinasabi tungkol sa kalaban ko pero naka-lineup na yung pangalan ko sa undercard niya (Canelo),? (They have not mentioned an opponent yet but my name is lined up in his undercard.) Cuello told this writer.

But the exciting young fighter from the Jaro stable of Rizal is expecting to face a Mexican foe in the ring that night. September 15th coincides with the Mexican Independence Day celebration. Big boxing events with mostly Mexican fighters are usually held during this holiday weekend to entice the avid Mexican boxing fans.

Cuello has been training in the Jaro Gym in Binangonan, Rizal for his upcoming fight. To develop his stamina and conditioning, Cuello has been running the mountains of Rizal for his road work. He also has logged in several rounds of sparring in his manager?s gym. ?Nakakaraming sparring na rin po ako,? (I have been sparring a lot.) he mentioned.

Cuello verbalized he is fine with the recent WBC decision to bypass him for the vacant 105 belt despite his status as it?s number 1 rated fighter in that division. The WBC approved a title bout between China?s Xiong Zhao Zhong (19-4-1) and Mexico?s Javier Martinez Resendiz (13-3-2) for October 27th which is to be held in Kunming, China.

?Ok lang po sa akin, kasi ipinaliwanag ni Manager (Aljoe Jaro) sa akin," (It?s fine with me, because my manager explained it to me.) Cuello commented. He also verbalized that there are plans regarding it after his September 15th fight but he cannot divulge its details yet.

Cuello is focusing instead on next month?s Las Vegas bout, ?Sa ngayon po, handa na po ako sa laban ko,? (I am ready for my fight at this time.) The young boxer said.

Cuello and manager Aljoe Jaro is planning to fly to the United States on the first week of September for the said fight.

?Sana po ay suportahan nila (Filipinos and fans) ako at ipanalangin nila ang tagumpay ko,? (I hope that they support me and pray for my success.) Cuello expressed.
