THE ?SUPER FIGHT? COMING? IT MAY EVEN BE IN MANILA

PhilBoxing.com

Through the social media, Mayweather sidekick rapper Cutis Jackson aka 50 Cent and Oscar de la Hoya a few weeks ago had very interesting if not intriguing exchange of messages. Taunts, if you may.

Apparently Jackson was approved as a promoter in the State of New York and is looking at getting a license in other States as well thereby producing a potential formidable rival for both De la Hoya and Bob Arum.

ODLH chided Jackson for wishing to be a promoter and in return Jackson called ODLH a girl.

Jackson?s moves only mean one thing. Mayweather maybe looking at getting his dear friend promote his next fight(s).

If Jackson succeeds in getting license in other States two things may happen.

One, Oscar de la Hoya will no longer be representing Mayweather. Read:-Loss of revenue the GBP but more money for Mayweather.

Two, without ODLH, who is an arch enemy of Pacquiao promoter Bob Arum, the ?super fight? between Pacquiao and Mayweather has a better chance in happening. Read:- Good for the boxing fans.

As people said in the past, part of the reason why the ?super fight? has not happen is because of the petty rivalry between Arum and de la Hoya.

However, even with Jackson now in the picture, don?t think that the ?super fight? will happen anytime this year.

Mayweather is out of jail but he is far from being ready this year for a super fight with Pacquiao.

Besides a ?super fight? with Pacquiao needs plenty of time to be put together and hyped for maximum effect in the till and PPV.

In addition, Pacquiao as we all know is now gearing towards his future retirement.

But he is still under contract with Arum.

Therefore, it will not be too far fetched to imagine that Arum will milk him for all his worth before allowing the fight against Mayweather to happen.

To do this, Arum may match Pacquiao against Bradley in November 2012 one more time for additional moolah and for Pacquiao to re-gain his title, if not his pride.

On the other side of the coin, one very interesting scenario was brought to attention of this writer.

With Jackson in the picture, word has it that someone very capable and well connected is already quietly working behind the scene to put up the ?super fight? in Manila.

Could this be the reason by it was reported by Nick Giongco of the Bulletin that Pacquiao is cool on a November fight?

Apparently, the guy is working with people with deep pockets in Manila who he can fit together with resources in the USA, HBO included and put up the ?super fight? in Manila, ala the Ali-Frazier ?Thrilla in Manila?

Of course, without ODLH, that is even more plausible now.

Word has it that they are hoping that Arum will be cast to the side as well.

With that, the super fight can be promoted by Pacquiao and Mayweather/Jackson (TMT Promotions) maximizing profits for the Filipino spitfire since he need not deal with the reported 20%+ that Arum takes from him every fight.

With that, even if Pacquiao gets a lesser purse than Mayweather, he still stands to get more in the end since Arum will no longer in the picture.

Funny, but the super fight may finally occur next year.

And, if it happens in Manila, so much the better.

The Filipino people who in the years past have been faithful Pacquiao supporters deserved it more than anybody else.
