The thirteen bout card MMA card held Saturday at the Cebu Coliseum lasted until 1:30 AM Sunday but the highly animated crowd certainly enjoyed the action. In the main event, Lord Rey Yamit beat Mark Araneta by TKO at the end of second round. An exhausted Araneta was at the receiving end of brutal strikes and his corner signalled that their fighter will no longer continue. Yamit won the GNP lightweight title. In a special kickboxing bout, Renan Noblefranca won by unanimous decision over Steve Sevilleno, 50-45, 50-45 and 50-47, after five rounds for the YFCC bantamweight title. Rocky Batol-batol won by tap-out with an arm bar against Johnjier Torbiso at 2:03 of the first round. In the highly anticipated battle of the Martial Arts Gym founders, Allan Epile won by TKO in round two against Ben Torbiso. Epile landed successive hard head shots and the referee stopped the fight as Torbiso was obviously very groggy. Time 1:03. CEBU SPORTSWRITER WINS MMA DEBUT Lemuel Maglinte, who writes boxing and MMA articles for local dailies THE FREEMAN and BANAT, made a successful entry into the world of mixed martial arts with an impressive TKO win over Zoren Pescador. Maglinte showed excellent striking techniques and had his opponent hurt in the opening seconds. A series of punches and knee strikes made him dominate the first round and his opponent?s corner signaled that their fighter has had enough before the start of the second. Maglinte not only represented Yaw-Yan Ardigma Martial Arts, but the entire Cebu media who were there to support their colleague. OTHER RESULTS: Jonathan Esquierdo won by tap-out due to an arm bar against Romilo Espra in the 2nd round. Time ? 2:03. Kyle Co beat Jonamar Macaraya by KO at 3:03 of the 2nd round. Urtrych Alarin won by tap out in the opening round using an arm bar against Dodong Jagape, time- 3:36. Keith Acapulco beat Ryan Salomon by tap out using a guillotine choke in the 2nd round. Israel Gomez beat Roel Rosauro by tap out at 4:32 of the 2nd round. Carlo ?The Masterpiece? Mabilin used high kicks to outpoint James Roiles by scores of 28-29, 26-30 and 27-30. Bryan Paciente won by tap out at 3:27 of the second round against Nelson Navarette and in the evening?s opening bout, Theodric Batoon beat Kirk Florida by rear naked choke at 1:07 of the second round. ?Ground & Pound VI:Invincible? was presented by Yaw-Yan Cebu ArDigma Martial Arts Federation, Inc.
