Cebu Sportswriter All Set for MMA Debut By Rene Bonsubre, Jr. PhilBoxing.com Fri, 13 Jul 2012  CEBU ? Lemuel Maglinte, a boxing and MMA writer for THE FREEMAN, a Cebu daily newspaper, will make his entry into the world of Mixed Martial Arts on Saturday July 14 at the Cebu Coliseum as one of the preliminary fighters for ?Ground and Pound VI:Invincible? presented by Yaw-Yan Cebu ArDigma Martial Arts Federation, Inc. Maglinte, will go against Zoren Pescador of Parkour Sugbu. The 23 year old Maglinte (standing LEFT in photo above) has trained for a year under Yaw-Yan Ardigma and his MMA debut has long been the topic of conversation among sportswriters in Cebu, the central Philippine island known more for being the boxing capital of the country. Maglinte weighed 116.5 lbs while his opponent Pescador stepped in at 111 lbs during Friday's official weigh-in held at the fight venue and supervised by Rolando Mendoza of the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) ? Region VII. The card's main event will feature Mark "The Terminator" Araneta (153.5 lbs) of the Mandaue City-based Team UMMA, who will square off against Lord Rey "The Punisher" Yamit (159 lbs) of Butuan Extreme MMA for the GNP lightweight title. The supporting main event is the kickboxing duel between Renan "Limbas" Noblefranca of Yaw-Yan ArDigma Cebu Top Team and Steve "D' Lightning" Sevilleno of Team MUMMA-Manila for the YFCC bantamweight crown. A special attraction to this event is the battle between two Martial arts Senseis, a ?Founder vs Founder? clash between Ben ?Durex Warrior? Torbiso of Durex Dragon KBC and Allan ?The Dancing Man? Epile (SOMA Kickboxing Club). Also set to see action are Johnjier "The Dangerous" Torbiso (130.5lbs) of Durex KBC vs. Rocky "The Outlaw" Batolbatol )137.5 lbs) of CDO's Team MUMMA, Ronilo "Buffalo" Esfra of Arcomjukai-Mandaue (148lbs) vs. Jonathan "Mata de Leo" Esquierdo (145 lbs) of CDO's Team MUMMA, Dodong 'Tiger' Jagape of Red Dragon MMA vs. Urtych 'The Machine' Alarin of Butuan Extreme MMA; Keith Acapulco vs Ryan Salomon, Roel Rosauro vs Israel Gomez, James Roiles vs Carlo Mabilin, Nelson 'D?Hammer' Navarete vs. Brian Paciente, Kirk Florida vs. Theoderic Batuon.
