Team Pacquiao Troops to Vegas

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA ? Thousands of miles away from where they started their respective preparations for their June 9 (June 10 in Manila) World Boxing Organization welterweight championship fight,protagonists Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley are nearing the moment of truth.

Pacquiao, the defending 147-pound titlist arrived here along with his team and supporters and immediately checked in at the Hotel of Mandalay Bay.

Hundreds, most of whom are members of the Filipino community here, were on hand the welcome the fighting Sarangani Congressman and party. The Pacman and his challenger, the world junior-welterweight kingpin who had also set foot in this sin city, are most likely to meet each other during today?s Grand Arrival Ceremony at the lobby of the MGM Grand where the Saturday?s 12-round showdown will be held.

Bradley though will be accorded to be honored first at noon with Pacquiao following suit 30 minutes later. The Grand Arrival rite is actually the first activity of the fight week that will highlighted by their appearance in the main event press conference tomorrow at 12:30 at the hotel?s Hollywood Theater.

The main event presser will be preceded by the media luncheon at noon, also at the Hollywood Theater. Today is actually a very busy day because besides the Grand Arrival Ceremony, distribution of media accreditations to press people who will cover the fight will also be held at the old VIP Box Office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

To be distributed are temporary fight week credentials, according to an announcement made by Magna Media International, MGM?s hose media relations firm that is handling the publicity of the fight.

Fight accreditation cards will be open for pickup from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., also at the Old VIP Box Office. A separate press conference for the undercard has been set Thursday at 11:30 a.m.
Weigh-in will be on Friday at 12:30 p.m. at the MGM Grand Garden, the actual site of the fight. Doors to the MGM Arena open at 3 p.m. on Saturday for the first fight set at 3:15.

The public are advised that first fight starts at 32: 15 p.m. Televised broadcast begins at 6 p.m. Chief trainer Freddie Roach has scheduled a workout right after today?s Grand Arrival Ceremony.

Pacquiao and family ? wife Jinky and children Jimwell, Michael, Princess and Queenie ? took the champ?s SUV on the way here, while supporters took the official Pacquiao bus. The convoy left the Wild Card Gym vicinity at 4 p.m. following a three-hour sparring session at the Roach-owned sweat shop.
