ALA PROMOTIONS IN A STRUGGLE TO STAGE BANAL-SOR SINGYU TITLE FIGHT IN MANILA By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Mon, 04 Jun 2012 ![]() The famed Ala Promotions headed by its patron Tony Aldeguer and youthful president Michael Aldeguer is going to have a struggle with the big Thai promotional outfit One Songchai Promotions over the staging of the battle for the vacant WBO bantamweight title between No.1 contender AJ ?Bazooka? Banal and No.2 ranked Pungluang Sor Singyu. WBO Asia Pacific vice president Leon Panoncillo who is based in Thailand told us ?there are still on-going negotiations? between Aldeguer and female promoter Pariyakorn Ratanasuban who is the promoter of Sor Singyu. Panoncillo conceded that ?unfortunately it will not be an easy negotiation for ALA as she is backed by financial sponsors and is trying her best to hold the title fight in Thailand.? ALA Promotions is also backed by the giant Philippine broadcast network ABS-CBN. Panoncillo said Pariyakorn Ratanasuban "was named successor of her father?s longtime promotional outfit. Songchai Ratanasuban retired a while back and had his daughter take over." The WBO regional executive said ?she is doing a great job promoting in Thailand? even as Panoncillo pointed out that ?no agreement have yet been made with ALA Promotions as they both are still talking.? However, we have been told by ALA Promotions that Banal being the top contender should be given priority even as they indicated they didn?t wish to go after the title in Thailand which, regrettably, is known for sometimes making it difficult for visiting fighters.
