MABAIT AND DEMECILLO-SINGWANGCHA MAKE WEIGHT FOR RP TITLE CLASH

PhilBoxing.com

CEBU ? Defending Philippine superflyweight champion Marvin Mabait (16W-0L-2D,10 KO's) weighed in at the division limit of 115 lbs while Marco Demecillo Singwangcha (15W-0L-1D, 11KO's) stepped in at 113 lbs during the official weigh-in held Saturday noon at the GAB-Cebu office.

Mabait, who is a mainstay of the Blue Stallion stable of Zamboanga, will be defending his title for the first time in an intriguing rematch.

They faced each other as curtain raisers three years ago at the Cebu Coliseum and the fight ended in a four round majority draw. Mabait knocked down Demecillo in the opening round. Demecillo-Singwangcha is one of the top fighters promoted by Rex ?Wakee? Salud and is sponsored by Thai boxing patron Naris Singwangcha.

RWS gym trainer Juanito Ablaca spoke to philboxing after the weigh-in and was wary about Demecillo-Singwangcha's chances. ?I would consider our boxer to be the underdog. Mabait is an excellent boxer and has a high skill level. But Marco is in very good shape and trained hard for this fight. But I feel this will be a difficult fight for us. We will give it our best.?

This Sunday fight card will be held at the Mactan Shrine in Lapu-lapu City and offered free to the public. The event is sponsored by Mayor Paz Radaza and Congressman Arturo Radaza.

The undercards will feature Fernando Ocon (109.75 lbs) against Jay-R Estremos (109.75 lbs) - 10 rounds, Marlou Sandoval Singwangcha (104.75 lbs) vs. Jonathan Ricablanca (106 lbs) - 8 rounds, Jayson Redondo Singwangcha (126 lbs) vs Jayvee Alipio (125 lbs) - 8 rounds, Rajah Renoel Pael (112 lbs) vs Joseph Alteza (107 lbs) - 8 rounds, Rodel Wenceslao (129.75 lbs) vs Sesustener Llanera Singwangcha (130 lbs) - 6 rounds, Junior Salvador (109.75 lbs) vs Lyndel Radoc Singwangcha (109.75 lbs) - 6 rounds.

Ardie Boyosi (114.75 lbs) vs Ranel Pasunting (112 lbs) - 4 rounds and Junmar Sahay (121 lbs) vs. Kenny Demecillo (118 lbs) - 4 rounds. Sahay will be penalized for being overweight by wearing 10 ounce gloves.

The 8 rounder between TI Yamagata Valero and Zaldy Aroa has been cancelled because Valero is nursing a fever due to an upper respiratory tract infection.

Fight time is on April 22 Sunday at 3 PM.
