UNDEFEATED, UNDISPUTED, UNANIMOUS: ANDRE WARD DOMINATES CARL FROCH TO WIN THE SUPER SIX FINALE

PhilBoxing.com

Atlantic City, NJ - It took two years in the making and tonight the innovative Super Middleweight tournament is finally over with Andre Ward emerging as its over all winner. Ward dominated Britain?s last hope of salvaging a year of disappointments for their fighters in Carl Froch 28-1 (20 KOs) in a 12 round unification match at the Boardwalk Hall Arena here in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The Oakland native was the faster, the more active and the better puncher in a grueling match that took all of twelve rounds of the Super Six Finale.

Ward, 24-0 (13 KOs) was the aggressor from the get go as he jabbed and pressed the Nottingham, England fighter who was caught by surprise by Ward?s effective punching and speed. He stunned the UK fighter in the second round with hard left hooks and a series of combinations that rattled Froch who was in defensive mode after that. Froch came alive in the 3rd with a series of hits but Ward responded right away with clean shots that landed heavily on his opponent.

Ward?s speed was clearly the factor in the match with the Englishman unable to deal with it. Froch has no answer as the fight ensued with Ward landing at will with hooks and straights emanating from both of his hands. He pressured Froch who moved and held to avoid the undefeated WBA champion?s attack. But Ward catches him without any difficulty, even forcing him in the ropes and the corners of the ring. He pummeled Froch whose WBC belt was on the line on this match.

Froch bounced back in the 9th round of the fight as chants of ?USA, USA? echoed in the arena. Ward cornered him and landed a couple of punches but the strong chinned Brit took it well like he has been doing in the last eight rounds of the fight and responded with right hooks that caught the undefeated California fighter. Ward took back control of the fight in round 10 as he continued his masterful domination of his foe with clean, scoring shots that delighted the 5600 crowd here in the Jersey shore. Froch who was a picture of a losing fighter in the ring has his head bowed down and in sullen mood as both fighters duked it out in the 11th and 12th round. Froch attempted to finish the round and the fight with desperation all over his face as he is unable to land that one big shot that could change the game. Ward, knowing he is in full control of the fight cruised his way to an uneventful ?nish to end the fight.

Andre Ward wins the Super Six tourney and uni?ed the WBC,WBA and the Ring Magazine Super Middleweight belts with a Unanimous 12 round Decision in all of the three judges? card. The scores were 115-113 in two cards and 118-110 in one card as Ward takes the victory, the belts and the handsome Super Six trophy here in Atlantic City.

This victory will earn Andre Ward the recognition as the best 168 pounder in the world and also places him as a clear favorite to win the prestigious Fighter of The Year awards for 2011. He also advanced his stature as he is sure to climb the pound for pound ladder with this impressive victory. Indeed the boxer who calls himself a ?Son of God? is abundantly blessed tonight.
