TAPALES, DEMECILLO-SINGWANGCHA WOW CROWD IN LILOAN, CEBU

PhilBoxing.com

TAPALES OUTGUNS DURABLE MUBIRU
Liloan, Cebu ? For ten fast paced rounds, Marlon Tapales (19W-1L, 6 KO?s) of Lanao del Norte and Mobile Martin Mubiru (8W-3L, 5 KO's) of Uganda engaged in an entertaining but technically sound battle. Mubiru tried giving the southpaw Tapales different looks by shifting from a left to right handed stance with ease.

The two speedy and crafty boxers landed perfect straight punches and accurate counters. In the fourth round, Tapales targeted the midsection and found the African?s Achilles heel. A sharp right uppercut to the body sent Mubiru down.

Mubiru got up and continued to fight back. In the sixth, a series of hooks to the ribs sent Mubiru down again. He got up only to be deducted a point for a headbutt. In the seventh round, Mubiru walked into a right hook and went down again.

After he got up, he still managed to stun Tapales with crisp combos. A clash of heads opened a cut on Tapales? right eyelid which resulted in another point deduction for Martin. Tapales launched a fierce offensive in the 8th but Mubiru survived and increased his work rate in the ninth. Sensing he was way behind, Mubiru made one last charge for a knockout but Tapales defense kept him out of serious trouble. The scores for Tapales ? 97-89, 96-90 and 96-90 did not reflect the intense struggle that went on inside the ring.

DEMECILLO SINGWANGCHA WINS PHIL. INTERIM SUPERFLYWEIGHT TITLE

Marco Demecillo Singwangcha of Iligan City stalked Louie Bantigue of Manila and landed hard hooks to the body and head. The well-travelled veteran Bantigue used all of his survival tricks but Marco?s power was the decisive factor.

In the fourth round, a series of hard hooks sent Bantigue down. He got up but was the recipient of hard shots in the subsequent rounds. Demecillo sent Bantigue down three times in the ninth round prompting the referee to stop the fight.

Official time of the TKO ? 1:16. His sponsor, Naris Singwangcha of Thailand, gave him extra cash incentives for his win. RJ Anoos of Liloan gave his home fans a reason to cheer as he knocked out Joan de Guia with a three punch combo punctuated by a right straight in 2:53 of the first round.

Marlo Sandoval Singwangcha won by TKO over Gerry Tumogdan. Both boxers were cut in round two, Sandoval from a clash of heads and Tumogdan from a punch. Sandoval was deducted a point in the third for spitting out his mouthpiece. Then an exhausted Tumogdab quit in his stool before the start of the 5th round.

Jerpaul Valero won by unanimous decision over Allan Doronilla. The scores ? 59-55, 58-56 and 59-55.

Rajah Renoel Pael won by knockout in the 4th round over Rodel Songquit. A right to the abdomen sent Songquit crashing into the neutral corner. Official time ? 1:56.

Jayson Redondo Singwangcha won by TKO before the start of the sixth and last round over Honey Boy Vidad. They fought toe to toe but a hematoma started to from around Vidad?s right eye at the end of the 2nd and blood was pouring out of his nose in the 3rd. At the end of the 4th round, the ring doctor checked with Vidad in his corner but he and his cornermen expressed willingness to continue fighting. With his right eye closing, the gutsy Vidad tried to fight back but was receiving more punches. The ring doctor recommended the fight stoppage after the fifth round.

Sehayahei Llanera Singwangcha won by TKO in the second round against Joel Soterol in a back and forth slugfest. Official time ? 0:39. In the card?s opening bout, Arnel Caoktoy won by TKO before the start of the 3rd round as Quimao refused to fight after being at the receiving end of hard punches.

This fight card was held Sunday at the Panphil B. Frasco Memorial Sports Complex in Liloan and co-promoted by Rex ?Wakee? Salud and Naris Singwangcha who also gave cash prizes to all the boxers who had abbreviated wins.

The fights will be seen on GMA Television and scheduled air times will be announced later.
