Mehdi then poured the pressure on in the third and final round scoring 10 points to the r of Tacuyan to emerge winner and give the Philippines another blow in its quest for a 2012 London Olympics slot in the high-level qualifying tournament. The PLDT-ABAP National team earlier suffered its first setback when Delfin Boholst dropped a hard-fought battle against the Netherlands Stephen Danyo 16-11. Amateur Boxing Association of the Philippines executive director Ed Picson reported that Boholst tried to dictate the tempo of the fight by launching an early attack but the Dutch boxer proved to be an excellent counter puncher with quick hands enabling him to take the opening round 5-3. Danyo increased his lead to 10-6 at the end of the second round and although Boholst went all out in the third and final round, crowding Danyo and throwing several punches the tenacious European Championship silver medalist held off the Filipino?s challenge and even added one more point to his edge to emerge winner by a 16-11 margin.
