Francisco versus Domingo: ''Somebody's going to fall''

PhilBoxing.com

Drian Francisco.

SOMEBODY?s going to fall and neither Drian ??Golden Fists?? Francisco and Michael ??Bruce Lee?? Domingo wouldn?t like to become the first man atop the ring to kiss the canvas.

??It?s going to be an exciting fight and I can assure you that somebody?s going to get knock out,?? said the 32-year-old Domingo of the famed ALA Promotions.

??All that I can say is that I no longer want to taste a loss. I?ve learned from my lessons well and I want to win this thriller of a fight,?? said Francisco of the Touch Gloves Boxing Gym in Agoncillo, Batangas.

Both world-class boxers met Wednesday afternoon at the Tiara Oriental Hotel in Malugay at Makati City. They wowed the interested crowd with their humilty, courage and honesty as they prepare for a grand showdown September 23, Friday at the Makati Coliseum.

Promoted by Saved by the Bell Promotion headed by youthful Batangue?o sportsman-businessman Elmer Anuran and Solar Sports, the card dubbed as Pinoy Warriors is free to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.

Anuran, ALA Promotion vice-president Dennis Ca?ete, Francisco, Domingo, trainers Edito Villamor and Benny de la Pe?a met the press. Also present were Touch Gloves? Roberto Gonzales and Davaoe?o Balweg Bangoyan who will clash in the main supporting event.

Others present were GAB chairman Ramon Guanzon, Commissioner Fritz Gaston, boxing chief Dr.Nasser Cruz and boxing writers including Dennis ?The Source?? Guillermo, who came all the way from Las Vegas, Nevada.

Saved by the Bell executives Danny Anuran and Rod Nebiar were also present. The parents of Francisco were also present along with Solar bigwigs.

Both Francisco (20-1-1, 16 KOs) and Domingo (42-15-3, 23 KOs) expressed their readiness for the bout.

??I trained hard for this bout because I am going up against a former world champion,?? said Domingo.

Domingo?s trainer Villamor said they have studied Francisco?s past fights against Robert Nu?ez, Ricardo Vasquez, Duangpetch Kokietgym and Tepparith Singwancha.

??We have devised our fight plans thoroughly and it?s up to Domingo to make the adjustments if necessary,?? said the battle-scarred Villamor. ??Francisco is going to be a tough customer.??

Francisco?s trainer De la Pe?a said they have a great training camp in Agoncillo. ??You can say that we?ve learned from our mistakes,?? Anuran said it is rare for ring fans to watch this kind of matchup.??Both fighters are no pushovers. SBB and Solar put up this card for the fans who thirst for real boxing action. This is it,?? said Anuran.

Canete shared Anuran?s belief. ??This is going to be a thrilling fight. We studied Elmer?s offer very well and we feel that this will be for the good of boxing. We also feel that this is going to be a fair fight and we have an even chance of winning.??

Solar Sports? executive Paolo Diaz said Pinoy Warriors is a testament to Solar?s commitment to excellence. He mentioned that the Francisco-Domingo bout is being compared by jaded observers to the Manny Pacquiao-Reynante Jamili bout.

??We don?t want to disappoint the fans,?? said Diaz, a triathlete.

Anuran said the main supporting bout between Gonzales and Bangoyan will also delight the fans.

??Like Domingo and Francisco, Gonzales-Bangoyan will be action-packed,?? said Anuran, who thanked the Makati City government headed by Mayor Junjun Binay for supporting the event.

Ca?ete also said that the door are open for SBB to bring its act to Cebu in the near future, while Anuran said his group will absolutely love to fight infront of Cebuano fans.
''The main thing is that SBB and ALA talk on the basis of true sportsmanship,'' Anuran concluded.
