DARTS LEGEND HARRINGTON DEFEATS PACQUIAO IN CLASH OF GREATS

PhilBoxing.com

Rod Harrington, the British darts legend who has won over 50 titles in his illustrious career, hadn?t picked up a dart in seven years since his retirement from the sport. But last week in Manila he was briefly pulled back up to the oche for a can?t miss opportunity to clash with boxing great Manny Pacquiao in a one on one duel, and took down the boxing icon in three sets.

Harrington was in Manila to help promote the release of Pacquiao?s own personal range of soft and steel-tip darts, flights, surrounds, and bristle and soft-tip dart boards. The Pacquiao darts line is produced by Target Darts, UK, the world?s premiere darts manufacturing company.

Harrington met up with Pacquiao at the Pan Pacific Hotel in the Malate district of Manila. Pacquiao had shown up to try out his new darts line for the first time. As the eight division boxing champion determinedly fired one dart after the next at the champion bristle board with his name on it, he soon discovered the identity of the big man standing in the room with him. With both legends excited to meet one another, it wasn?t long before a match was in progress.

Playing a three set race of 501, both players appeared a bit nervous at the outset, but it was Harrington who settled down faster and claimed set number one. Pacquiao, showing his highly competitive nature, buckled down to claim the second set with a brilliant finish from 74 points with a double 20 and a double 17. The final set came down to the last few throws, but it was Harrington who got out first to claim victory, 2-1

Afterwards Harrington was all praises for the darts prowess of Pacquiao.

?I can see how much he loves darts,? Harrington said. ?He?s an intense competitor. Now that he has his own line of darts, I can imagine he?ll be taking his game to another level. Maybe next time it?ll be me on the losing end. It was an honor to play with an icon like Manny.?

The entire Manny Pacquiao darts line is now available throughout the Philippines at all Toby?s Sports outlets and other fine retailers, and will be rolled out in the US, the UK and other countries in the coming months.
