Pe?alosa, Jr stops Kiatpracha Gym in three rounds; Mayol, Jaca, Petalcorin win By Rene Bonsubre, Jr. PhilBoxing.com Sun, 07 Aug 2011 Mandaue City- Dodie Boy Pe?alosa,Jr kept his winning streak going as he easily disposed of Kong Kiatpracha Gym of Thailand in three rounds. Pe?alosa chased the elusive Thai Tornado from the opening bell landing hooks to the body and head. In the third, Pe?alosa?s flurry punctuated by a hard right hook to the ribs hurt the pinned Kiatpracha for the first knockdown of the fight. The Thai stood up but Pe?alosa continued his pressure sending Kiatpracha down two more times prompting the stoppage. Official time ? 2:16. Pe?alosa scored his sixth win, six by knockout, and beat his first foreign opponent. Kiatpracha Gym suffered his ninth career loss with five wins and a draw. Rodel Mayol beat Jayson Rotoni by a lopsided unanimous decision. Mayol hurt Rotoni in the first two rounds but the homecoming fight of ?Batang Mandaue? was almost spoiled when Rotoni stunned Mayol with a left hook. Mayol almost went down but quickly recovered and punished Rotoni in the subsequent rounds. Rotoni went into survival mode as he moved around the ring with Mayol trying to score a knockout but Rotoni managed to hear the final bell. The scores ? 98-92, 98-92 and 99-91.This fight was the final bout of the Laban ng Lahi:Dugong Kampeon fight card held Saturday at the Mandaue Sports Complex. Penalosa Jr sends the Thai to the canvas. Randy Petalcorin won by disqualification in the eighth round against Michael Rodriguez in their battle for the PABA interim light flyweight title. The southpaw Petalcorin scored a knockdown courtesy of a right hook in the 7th round. In the 8th, Petalcorin was hit when he was down as the referee was trying to separate the fighters and Rodriguez was deducted a point. Petalcorin was unable to get prompting the disqualification. Official time 1:39. Jimrex Jaca won by TKO over Philip Jun Demecillo at the end of the third round. The southpaw Jaca scored at will and Demecillo could not mount a significant counterattack. Demecillo?s corner signalled that their boxer has had enough prior to the start of the 4th round. Southpaws Eden Sonsona and Eman Labanza traded power shots for ten rounds but it was Sonsona who landed the more significant blows. The scorecards read 95-95 and two judges had 96-95 and 96-94, handing Sonsona the majority decision win. Marvin Tampus won by unanimous decision over Jestoni Pepito in an entertaining eight round brawl. The scores ? 78-73, 79-72 and 79-72. Anthony Sabalde knocked out Cristian Saga in the first round with a wicked right hook to the body. Official time ? 1:19. In the first bout of the evening, Renren Tesorio and Jaime Bermiso fought to a five round technical draw. An accidental headbutt opened a cut below Bermiso?s right eyebrow in round four which continued to bleed going into the fifth round. The scores 47-47, 47-47 and 48-46. Last June at the Cebu Coliseum, their fight ended in a four round majority draw. This fight card was promoted by Gerry Pe?alosa?s GerryPens Promotions and supervised by the Games and Amusements Board of Cebu lead by Celso Miranda.
