TV BOXING ANALYST LAINEZ DEFENDS BANAL
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Wed, 03 Aug 2011

Respected TV boxing analyst Moy Lainez has defended world-rated AJ "Bazooka" Banal following some criticism of his 8th round technical decision win over Tyson Cave at the Hoops Dome in Lapu Lapu City last Saturday.
Lainez who celebrates his birthday today said Banal was "clearly frustrated by Cave who was not a boxer but a comedian."
Lainez said you could sense that Banal "wanted to put on an impressive performance but his opponent kept running and didn't give him a chance to show his skill and power."
Lainez also took issue with the ringside physician for not stopping the fight earlier as Banal continued to bleed profusely from a nasty gash over his right eye caused by an accidental clash of heads. He said "the doctor let the fight go on too long."
He was also critical of referee Tony Pesons for failing to keep control of the fight.
Lainez said he has confidence in Banal who likes to engage and said the matchmaker picked the wrong kind of opponent for the 22 year old southpaw. He said they should have "picked a fighter who comes forward and is ready to slug it out, not a runner."
ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer told us he plans to set up a training camp in the US and have Banal and a couple of other promising fighters train under former world champion Robert Garcia, the trainer of WBC/WBO bantamweight champion Nonito "The Filipino Flash" Donaire.
