Cuello blitzes Soto

World ranked Denver ?The Excitement? Cuello (27W-4L-6D, 17 KO?s) of Iloilo scored so many knockdowns in his second round TKO win against Omar ?El Pastor? Soto (15W-8L-1D, 6 KO?s) of Puerto Rico that I actually lost count.
Promoter Aljoe Jaro counted three in the first round in his e-mail to philboxing. But there were occasions when Soto hit the deck that were ruled either a slip or a push. Jaro stated in his e-mail that he approached Soto after the fight as a sporting gesture and out of curiosity asked him what happened. Jaro said that Soto was surprised with Cuello?s power. Jaro said that despite the fact that Soto is a veteran of world title bouts, he could not believe Cuello could hit so hard. After three more in the second, the referee mercifully ended matters.
Soto has lost to name fighters like Ramon Garcia Hirales, Oleydong Sithsamerchai and Edgar Sosa.
Jaro hopes to position his boxer for a world title challenge. He also said that he talked with Sean Gibson from Top Rank who was impressed with Cuello?s perfromance. Last year, in an unfortunate turn of events in Mexico, Cuello was disqualified when he had Juan Hernandez already down in the third round. Hernandez is set to challenge Kazuto Ioka for the WBC minimumweight title in Tokyo this August 10. There is nothing Jaro would want more than for Cuello for challenge the winner.
