ARIZA CONCERNED ABOUT PACQUIAO'S POST TRAINING EVENTS

PhilBoxing.com

Manny Pacquiao's strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza is concerned over the pound-for-pound king's post-training activites where he attends events and mingles with crowds shaking hands, signing autographs and posing for photos.

Ariza told the Philippine Daily Inquirer "my only concern is that at this level of training Manny is not resting." He noted that after a hard workout Pacquiao's "immune system is compromised" and when he is in crowds shaking hands "there are lots of germs around."

Ariza said that Pacquiao's attendance at all these events happen "when he is most susceptible."

Pacquiao, recognized as a crossover superstar made a series of appearances endorsing products including his very own ?MP8 Scent of the Champion.? Pacquiao and owner Ron Robinson made a special appearance at a packed Ron Robinson/Fred Segal store on Melrose, Los Angeles Saturday.

Pacquiao was mobbed as he launched his own brand of signature men?s cologne which reflected his eight championships in eight different weight divisions that earned for him the coveted ?Fighter of the Decade? title from the prestigious Boxing Writers Association of America.

He earlier visited the Nike store which sells a varied line of MP apparel that has proven to be extremely popular not just among Filipino-Americans but also Hispanics and Americans.
Pacquiao also made a fourth guest appearance on the popular ABC TV show ?Jimmy Kimmel Live? where excerpts of his DVD recording of the hit ?Sometimes When We Touch? with original composer/singer Dan Hill was telecast.

Other than that Ariza said there were no worries as Pacquiao has looked "phenomenal in training."

The strength and conditioniong guru who teamed up with c elebrated trainer Freddie Roach weeks before Pacquiao demolished David D iaz in nine rounds to win the WBC lightweight title and turned him into a relentless fighting machine said "Manny looks sharp and strong. His body has developed nicely."

He said that "if he needs to go to war (against Shane Mosley) his body is ready to take it."

Pacquiao and nhis entourage leave for Las Vegas today (Monday) where he will taper down in the buildup to his showdown with former three-time world champion Mosley at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 7 in a fight to be telecast on Sunday, May 8 in the Philippines by Solar Sports and GMA 7.

Cignal TV will telecast "live" coverage of the fight card on pay-per-view with no commercial interruptions while ABS-CBN will also telecast the fight "live" on pay-per-view mainly to Filipino communities in the Middle East, Europe and Australia.
