PINOY PRIDE 6: BAUTISTA BRACES FOR ?GRUDGE REMATCH?

PhilBoxing.com

Cebu City ? Rey ?Boom Boom? Bautista has said publicly that he has learned to accept his loss to Heriberto Ruiz of Mexico. But if you listen intently you can sense the subdued rage inside him. Press him and he will talk about being so embarrassed that he did not want to go back home to Bohol. He?ll go back to the time when he was fighting with pain on his left wrist, being bloodied by a cut and being dropped by Ruiz and having to listen to taunts, jeers and read negative news articles and fan comments while awaiting the wrist surgery.

?I had my last follow up visit with the surgeon before I fought (Alejandro) Berrera,? Bautista said, ?The doctor said my wrist has completely healed.?

The Games and Amusements Board has recently standardized hand wraps, following the technique used in the United States. But trainer Edmund Villamor said that this will not affect Bautista or their other boxers because they have been using this taping method.

?Right now, we are still in the sparring and conditioning phase of his training,? Villamor said during the press launching of PINYO PRIDE 6 at the Diamond Suites and Residences in Cebu City.

?I would say BoomBoom now is still at 50 precent.? Villamor assessed. They still have more than a month to go before the June 11 rematch. ?We will working on his jab ad his defense.?

The Waterfront Cebu City Hotel will once again host this big boxing event. ALA Promotions President and CEO Michael Aldeguer calls this ?the biggest event we could have done this year.?

Bautista feels confident and even said he considered Alejandro Barrera to be better than Ruiz. This fight is also for the IBF International featherweight title with the winner going up the world rankings but to Bautista this means so much more.

Rey Wheatley of Australia will be the fight supervisor with Atty. Danrex Tapdasan of the Philippines as the referee. The judges penned for this bout are Bruce McTavish, Rey Danseco and Muhammad Rois of Indonesia.
