Jinkee flies to U.S. to lend support to Manny By Eddie Alinea PhilBoxing.com Tue, 19 Apr 2011 Jinkee Pacquiao, the beautiful wife of WBO world welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, is leaving for Los Angeles tonight to lend moral support to her husband, who has pitched camp at the Wild Card Gym in preparation for his coming fight with challenger ?Sugar? Shane Mosley a little over a fortnight from today in Las Vegas. Jinkee is flying to L.A. on board a Philippine airlines flight with twin sister Janet. ?I was supposed to leave next week pa para sumunod sa L.A. pero napilitan kaming mag-rebook for tomorrow after receiving call from Manny yesterday,? Jinkee told this writer in a telephone interview. ?Siyempre ako naman, as his wife, I have to submit to his wishes. Kaya kahit ako lang, kailangan pumunta para kahit paaano, mabawasan ang kalungkutan niya, Jinkee, who was also in Baguio City in the last four days of his training there, said. Asked if their four children ? Michael, Princess, Jimwell and Queenie -- will be following her, Jinkee said: ?Hindi na. Bakasyon ngayon at mas ma-e-enjoy nila ang summer ditto. At saka if we?re not vacationing as a family, hindi talaga naming isinasama ang mga bata.? Asked what else they talked about in their telephone conversation, Jinkee answered: Well, sabi nya maganda raw naman ang training nya. ?Na-touch din daw sya ng pasalamatan sya ni (Victor) Ortiz after the latter won over (Andre) Berto to crown himself the new WBC welterweight champion. Jinkee said. ?Pamabihira daw yung magsalita ang isang boxer to another boxer na papuri. Kung na-inspire daw si Ortiz sa advice ni Manny before his fight, his (Ortiz?s) statement will also serve as an inspiration to Manny sa training hanggang sa laban niya kay Mosley,? Jinkee added. Jinkee was referring to a statement attributed to Ortiz, thanking Pacquiao for his advice right during the post-fight press conference following his sensational 12-round unanimous decision victory over Berto. "I want to thank Manny Pacquiao for his words. We talked today and he said to stick to my plan, that I'm a very good fighter, and don't take anybody's negativity," Ortiz said of his Saturday pre-fight conversation with Pacquiao. ?He said I?m more powerful than him and that I should listen to my coaches. Thank you Manny, thank you Freddie (Pacquiao?s trainer Freddie Roach). ?Me, I also felt happy reading in the newspapers na pinuri ang asawa ko ng kapuwa nya boxer na malamang ay makalaban pa nya in the future,? she said. Jinkee said in reference to the crowd?s booing directed to the undefeated fighter. Jinkee asserted. Jinkee said her other siblings Russel, Dondon and Heide Jamora will join her in L.A. on May 25. Click here to view a list of other articles written by Eddie Alinea. |
