PAGARA HAMMERS NJIKU; THUNDERBOLT STRIKES IN BACOLOD
By Rene Bonsubre, Jr. PhilBoxing.com Sun, 10 Apr 2011

Jason Pagara used a picture perfect counter left hook in the second round to knock out Deo Njiku of Tanzania. Njiku was sent to the canvas twice in the opening round, the first by a right straight and the second by a what seemed like a jab. Njiku pressured Pagara in the 2nd stanza and even landed powerful rights that reminded people at ring side why his ring moniker is ?The Hammer?.
But Pagara?s hook landed cleanly on the East African?s jaw for a short evening. Pagara wins the WBO Youth Asia-Pacific lt.welterweight title but had a swelling on his right forehead after the fight courtesy from a couple of hard shots coming from Njiku.

THUNDERBOLT VILLANUEVA ADDS ANOTHER KNOCKOUT WIN
Lorenzo ?Thunderbolt? Villanueva of the Braveheart boxing club of North Cotabato retained his WBO Oriental featherweight title with a 5th round knockout of Indonesian James Mokoginta. Villanueva, a southpaw, used his powerful left straight to knock down Mokoginta in the first and second rounds. The Indonesian weathered the initial storm and bravely engaged the Filipino in close quarter combat.
But in the fifth, Villanueva sent Mokoginta down again and the referee reached the 10 count at the 2:14 mark.
The WBO title fights were supervised by WBO As-Pac chief Leon Panoncillo.
