PhilBoxing.com

Bacolod City ? Gil Melligen of Bacolod City won by technical knockout over Eric Macas of Lanao del Norte before a highly enthusiastic hometown crowd at the 888 Chinatown Square Friday night. Melligen knocked Macas down in the first round and continued to punish Macas with an assortment of power shots in the second.

Melligen knocked Macas down again near the end of the second round but Macas still managed to get up and finish the round. The referee and ring physician visited Macas in his corner and referee Tony Pesons halted the bout before the start of the third.

Rising superbantamweight prospect Genesis Servania of Bacolod City pummelled Prell Tupas of Cadiz City with a brutal mix of head and body shots. At the end of the 4th round, the cornermen of the battered Tupas signalled that they did not want their fighter to continue.

Melvin Gumban of Bacolod City beat Joemer Lumacad of North Cotabato by unanimous decision after 6 rounds. Lumacad took the first round but Gumban went into his comfort zone as a pressure fighter and landed the cleaner blows as Lumacad faded in the subsequent rounds. The scores 58-56, 58-56 and 59-56.

Rex de Lara of Iloilo City won by unanimous decision against Jeffrey Segara of Toledo City in a wild swinging six rounder. The scores ? 60-54 for all three judges.

In the first pro bout of the evening, Albert Villacampa of Bantayan Island, Cebu and Royroy Sumugat of Bacolod City fought to a six round majority draw.

This ?free to the public? card was sponsored by Cobra Energy Drink as part of their yearlong boxing series with ALA Promotions and was held one day before PINOY PRIDE 5 bannered by Donnie ?Ahas? Nietes of Bacolod City vs. Armando Vasquez of Mexico.
