TWO FILIPINO BOXERS BEATEN IN ASIAN BOXING COUNCIL TITLE FIGHTS

PhilBoxing.com

Two Filipino WBC Asian Boxing Council title challengers have been beaten by superior Thai opponents over the weekend in Thailand.

TI Yamagata ?Adonis? Aguelo dropped a unanimous twelve round decision to 26 year old ABC featherweight champion Chonlatarn Piriyapinypo who is ranked No. 2 in the world by both the WBC and the WBO in a fight card in Uttaradit.

Overmatched Edwin Tumbaga on the other hand quit in the second round of a battle for the vacant WBC Asian Boxing Council bantamweight title fight against Yodchanchai Nakornloung Promotion whose real name is Rachan Yageow in Samut Prakan.

The undefeated Chonlatarn (37-0, 21 KO?s) scored an easy twelve round decision over Aguelo (14-4-1, 8 KO?s) with two judges having the Thai champion the winner by wide 118-110 margins and the third judge scoring an equally lopsided 119-109.

Reports from Thailand said Chonlatarn had Aguelo on the verge of a knockdown in the middle rounds, 5, 7 and 8 using his skills and punching power to dominate the overmatched Filipino, the reigning Philippine Boxing Federation champion.

The 27 year old Tumbaga called it quits in round two after claiming he was hurt by a low blow as Yodchanchai went after him with a flurry of punches forcing the referee to call a halt at 1:31 of the round. TV replays showed no sign of a low blow.

Tumbaga, ranked No. 3 by the ABC caught the No. 2 ranked Thai with a wild right hand and clearly hurt him in round one but Yodchanchai fought back to hurt Tumbaga with a series of vicious body shots that clearly took the fight out of the Filipino.

Yodchanchai had a record of 6-2 with 5 knockouts while Tumbaga who also lost by a 2nd round knockout to Duangpetch Kokietgym in a Pan Asian Boxing Association super flyweight title last September 10 dropped to a miserable 10-17-5 with 6 knockouts.
