Diale lost but had aching ribs going into title bout

PhilBoxing.com

Minnesota, USA ? I spoke to Arden Diale by long distance when he arrived in Los Angeles together with trainer Danny Bactol and Promoter Sammy Gello-ani. The 22 year old boxer from Digos City, Davao del Sur spoke about his failed attempt to wrest the WBO flyweight title from Julio Cesar Miranda of Mexico (35-5-1, 28KO)

?I knocked him down in the first round but the impact of my straight to his jaw wasn?t really that strong because it was not the best distance, he was a bit far. I waited for the right timing but he recovered. Too bad because I was able to take his punches. My rib area was swollen during training and he kept punching my ribs and that was what hurt me.? Diale said.

Diale (14-6-3, 7KO) pointed to his aching ribs as the reason for his loss at 1:29 of the fourth round last February 26 in Queretero, Mexico. He is the lone boxer in his family and was born in Malungon, Sarangani province, the district of boxing icon and Congressman Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao.

But Diale has not given up on his dream to win a world title someday.

?I will go back home to Digos and back to the gym to train right away for my next fight.? Promised Diale ("Mouli sa ko sa amoa (Digos) apan mobalik ko dayon aron mag training dayon para sunod nga away" )

Gello-ani, known as the Don King of Cebu, spoke to this writer and said that he did not know right away that his boxer was feeling pain in his ribs before the fight.

?He (Diale) got bruised ribs when he sparred with featherweight Danilo Pena at the Wild Card gym in Manila.? Gello-ani said.

("Nakuha niya (Diale) ang bun-og sa ribs atol sa pakig spar niya kang featherweight Danilo Pena sa Wild Card gym sa Manila")

Gello-ani, who heads SGG Sports Pomotions, said that they were counting on Miranda getting tired because he had to shed a lot of weight. ?Miranda is older at 30 years old. The impact of the first round knockdown wasn?t really that hard. The champion continued to hit Diale with hard body shots. Diale was never discouraged and fought back. We will rest Diale and see what lies ahead.?

Team Diale was a bit worried because of the statements of the Mexican camp that they will exact revenge for Fernando Montiel?s KO loss to Nonito Donaire last February 19. The team left the U.S. on the 28th and will be in the Philippines Tuesday. Miranda is reported to be facing Richie Mepranum in rematch.
