Supermiddleweight prospect Tim Owen Taggart Jr. will return to the square ring after nine months in a boxing promotion entitled "Saturday Night Fights" this February 26 at the Hinckley Events and Convention Center and Grand Casino in Hinckley, Minnesota, USA. The event is promoted by Justin Seurer of the Midwest Sports council and matchmaker Cory Rapacz.
Taggart (4w-2L-2D) turned pro last December 2007 and will turn 23 this April 30. He will face St. Paul City based Charles Meier (4-1-1, 2KO) in a 6-round non-title showdown.
Taggart is under the tutelage of Florida based Henry Foster and is wrapping up his preparations for this bout. The author writing for Sunstar Superbalita and SportsManila.net and reporting for DYRF Rayo Fuerza in Cebu spoke over the phone with Minnesota based boxing judge Tim Taggart Sr. who said that they are not familiar with Meier's style and have no tapes of his fights.
"We have no idea about this boxer (Meier) but my son (Tim Jr.) is ready for the fight" said Tim Sr. "I think we're 100% ready, I hope my son is stronger and heavier than Charles (Meier). Its hard to say but the possibility is there to knock him out".
Taggart last fought in May of last year, beating Nick Whiting by unanimous decision (39-37, 39-37 and 40-36) at the Shooting Star Casino, Mahnomen, Minnesota. Meier has a draw and four wins in his last five fights.
