ROY JONES JR ATTENDS WBC/NABF AWARDS DINNER

Roy Jones Jr one of the all-time greats and former pound-for-pound king showed up at the WBC/North American Boxing Federation Convention awards dinner to the delight of the top officials of the organization.
The ring legend appeared at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in the famous Latin Quarter of New Orleans at a dinner which was reported to be a relaxed southern buffet.
Among the awardees was respected matchmaker Bobby Goodman who was in Manila in 1975 for the famous ?Thrilla in Manila? and was also here for the WBC Annual Convention some three years ago.
Mexican and NABF flyweight champion Wilbert Uicab (28-5-1, 17 KO?s) was named ?Fighter of the Year? having had five successful title defenses since he won the crown with a 10th round TKO over Jose Alberto Cuadros on January 17, 2009.
Among his title defenses was against tough Filipino BJ Dolorosa (5-2, 0 KO?s) over ten rounds in June last year.
In his last fight Uicab won the Mexican flyweight title with an 8th round TKO over Faustino Cupul.

Fight of the Year: Banks-Walker (accepting Tom Loefler ? K2)
Most Dramatic Fight: Lee-Bunema (accepting Roland Jankelson)
Promoter of the Year: Square Ring (accepting: Roy Jones, Jr./John Wirt)
Female Fighter: Irma Sanchez
Female Promoter: Hector Garcia
President?s Award: Gayle Van Hoy
