PhilBoxing.com

Anthony ?Rocky? Marcial of Zamboanga City remained undefeated and won by 8th round TKO over Jaime Barcelona of Bukidnon. Marcial, a known KO artist, is the reigning WBO Oriental Superfeatherweight Champion and went past the fourth round for the first time in his career.

The veteran Barcelona engaged Marcial (14W-0L, 13KO) in phone booth warfare but was obviously wanting in the power department. He was at the receiving end of a frightening barrage of power punches and was pinned on the ropes on several occasions. In the eighth round the accumulation of punches took its toll and Barcelona was knocked down and continued to be battered when he got up prompting the referee to stop the carnage.

Barcelona is a twelve year pro and a veteran of 81 fights who has fought for various regional titles.

Marvin ?Marvelous? Sonsona, another hard hitting southpaw from Gen.Santos City, and the WBO Asia-Pacific Youth Champion, scored a third round TKO win over Louie Bantigue of Cebu in an eight round contest. Bantigue collapsed from an accumulation of power shots to the body and head twice in the third prompting the stoppage at 1:26 of the round. Sonsona is now 12-0 with 11KO's.
Johnreil Casimiro, the WBO Oriental jr.flyweight titlist beat Allan Ranada of Bohol by unanimous decision in an eight round contest. Ranada was more content to dance and survive and was knocked down in the third and eight rounds. The scorecards read: 80-69, 78-71, 80-69. Casimiro remained unbeaten in 12 fights with 6 KO?s.

Elf Gitgano of the Omega Boxing Gym won by disqualification in the 4th round over Kevin dela Cruz due to an accumulation of low blows. The fouls spoiled what could have been the most exciting fight of the evening as both fighters threw caution to the winds and exchanged haymakers. Dela Cruz received deductions for holding then threw three low blows in the fourth.

Marvin Mabait of the Top Contender Gym won by TKO over Apol Suico who signalled that he would not continue after the third round.

Richard Donaire won by TKO in the 5th round over Jeffrey Pulvera who was bleeding from the nose starting from the fourth round. Juan Purisima beat Jun Salvador by unanimous decision, the scores read: 39-37 in all score cards. Donaire and Purisima are from the Arthro gym.
