BOOM! Terence Crawford Stuns the World with Retirement at 42-0

PhilBoxing.com

In a bombshell announcement that has sent shockwaves through the sporting world, Terence "Bud" Crawford, the pound-for-pound king and undefeated icon, has officially announced his retirement from professional boxing.

Crawford (42-0, 31 KOs) leaves the sport with an unblemished record and his status as an all-time great beyond dispute. His decision to hang up the gloves comes just three months after his most historic achievement: jumping two weight divisions to dethrone the feared Mexican superstar Saúl "Canelo" Alvarez.

On September 13, 2025, before a record-breaking crowd of over 70,000 fans at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Crawford orchestrated a tactical clinic. Despite moving up from light middleweight to challenge the undisputed super middleweight champion, Crawford neutralized Canelo’s legendary power with superior footwork and surgical precision.

The bout, which was the first major boxing event streamed worldwide on Netflix, ended in a unanimous decision victory for the Nebraskan. The judges' scorecards reflected the competitive but clear nature of the contest: 116-112, 115-113, and 115-113.

By defeating Alvarez, Crawford became the first male boxer in the four-belt era to achieve undisputed status in three different weight classes (Light Welterweight, Welterweight, and Super Middleweight). He retires as a five-division world champion, having captured 18 world titles across a storied career that began in 2008.

"I’ve accomplished everything I set out to do," Crawford shared in an emotional retirement video. "I faced the best, moved through weight classes, and made history on my own terms. Forty-two and zero. This isn't a goodbye; it's a thank you."

Crawford joins an elite circle of legends, including Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Rocky Marciano, who walked away from the ring without ever tasting defeat. Known for his ability to switch stances and his ruthless finishing instinct, "Bud" never touched the canvas in his professional career and was never officially behind on a scorecard at the time of a finish.

While his retirement scuttles potential future mega-fights, Crawford exits at the absolute pinnacle of his powers. He leaves behind a legacy of perfection that will be studied by generations of fighters to come.
