Saludar wins WBA Inter-continental bantamweight title
By Lito delos Reyes PhilBoxing.com Mon, 18 Nov 2024

FORMER Orient and Pacific Boxing Federation [OPBF] bantamweight champion Froilan “The Sniper” Saludar became the new WBA Inter-continental bantamweight champion last November 15 at the Agenda Arena in Dubai.
The 35-year-old Saludar of Polomolok, South Cotabato beat the unbeaten Williams Flores of Venezuela by unanimous decision to win the vacant title.
Saludar now has 36 wins, 8 loses and one draw with 25 knockouts while Flores suffered his first loss after 18 wins.
“I trained hard to be champion again. Hopefully, a world title is next, but I’ll fight anyone. It’s up to my manager Jim Claude Manangquil," said Saludar.
Manangquil, on the other hand, is very happy with Saludar’s victory.
“He proved that age is just a number. He trained hard for this fight and it paid off,” said Manangquil.
He added: “We are talking about a rematch but if a world title comes along why not.”
Saludar is also a former WBO Asia Pacific super flyweight, WBO Inter-Continental flyweight, WBO Youth flyweight, WBO Asia Pacific flyweight and WBO Asia Pacific Youth flyweight champion.
Saludar lost to Japanese Sho Kimura for the WBO World flyweight title last July 27, 2018 in Guosen Gym in Japan.
Saludar also failed to win the IBF Pan Pacific bantamweight and WBO Oriental super flyweight titles.
