CELTICS MANGLE WARRIORS BY 52 POINTS!

PhilBoxing.com

Just as when everybody thought that this is the stage when Golden State will be making the push for final eight seeding for the playoffs in the West and Boston will be easing up as it has the top seeding and the league's best record practically sewn up, the exact reverse happened resulting to a Celtics ghastly rout of the Warriors by whooping 52 points, yes you read it right 52 points!

Boston demolished the Warriors, 140-88 at the TD Garden Arena which is the site of the Celtics humiliating finals clinching defeat to Golden State in the 2021-2022 season where Steph Curry motioned the Celtics and their fans to fall to sleep as the series was over.

Boston it appears never forgot that scene.

The Warriors coach Steve Kerr, himself a former Celtics hero in his playing days, had much to do with the rout loss as he sparingly used Steph and partner Klay Thompson and even Draymond Green and employed a total of 13 players who distributed among themselves much of the playing time against Boston.

If it was some sort of experimentation to test his bench players' readiness for the play-in and the playoffs, only Kerr could tell.

But it backfired as Boston practically had the game won by the first quarter after staking a 44-22 lead which even ballooned to 82-38 by the end of the first half.

Curry played for 17 minutes and scored just 4 points. Thompson played for 12 minutes and scored 6. The two accounted for just 3 rebounds and 6 assists. Draymond played for 14 minutes and tallied 6 points, 4 boards and 2 assists.

Jonathan Kuminga, Chris Paul, Lester Quinones, Moses Moody and Gary Payton II played longer but only Quinones and Moody managed to score in double figures at 17 and 11 respectively.

Boston did not hold its punches with Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum delivering as usual with 29 and 27 respectively Three other Celtics were in double figures namely P Pritchard (19) , S. Hauser(12) and Derreck White (14). Al Horford and Jrue Holiday scored 7 points each.

Golden State shot 39% from the field and an atrocious 17% from the three point area while Boston was above 50 percent from both area.
