WBC could suspend boxrec support? By Gabriel F. Cordero PhilBoxing.com Wed, 15 Nov 2023 In a surprising and unexpected situation and decision, the WBC announced during its annual convention in the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, that it will suspend cooperation with Boxrec.com which it has supported for more than a decade. Boxrec has been expanding for the last 3 years following the creation of the Bridge weight since its introduction by the WBC. The Bridgerweight division was created in honor of the boy hero Bridge Walker three years ago at one of the WBC conferences and is located between cruiserweight and heavyweight, from 90.7 to 101.6 kilograms. Boxrec after several years should have had the world ranking along with the details of titles and champions of this division during this time. What is unprecedented and difficult to overcome is that the undefeated Polish WBC world champion, Lukasz Rozanski (15-0-0, 14 KOs) does not have any title registered there. His fights are written as heavyweight without a title and he does not appear in any rankings. The WBC should send an official request to Boxrec to support the Bridgerweight classification and will suspend cooperation with Boxrec for the time being until the bridge division update is implemented. The decision was immediately supported and firmly supported by the WBC board of governors on Tuesday afternoon during the presentation of the Boxrec representatives after trying to reach an agreement on the division's information and failing to get Boxrec to show precise information in time and form on the bridge division which seems to have not taken the importance expected by the WBC.
