Philippine Team Bounces Back in Under-18 WBSC Women's Softball Asia Cup with Impressive Win By Marlon Bernardino PhilBoxing.com Fri, 01 Sep 2023 In an inspiring turn of events, the Philippine Under-18 Women's Softball team made a triumphant comeback by defeating South Korea with an astounding 11-1 score in the WBSC Women's Softball Asia Cup Thursday at the Pingtan Softball Stadium in Fujian Province, China. This victory was a well-needed boost to the team’s morale on the heels of a 0-11 loss to China last Wednesday. In spite of this, the Cebuana Lhuillier-backed team demonstrated that they had the courage and strength to shake off a rough patch and come back stronger. Jean Henri Lhuillier, President of the Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (ASAPHIL), couldn't be prouder of the team's performance today. "Losing 0-11 against China was a tough blow, but what defines a team is how they bounce back. I'm incredibly proud of how our girls fought back to dominate South Korea today (Thursday). This team embodies the spirit of Philippine softball: relentless and resilient to rise to any challenge that comes their way." As it stands, the Philippines now holds a 2-1 record in Group A. Their next match will be in the Super Round of the tournament wherein they face off against their counterparts in Group B. The Top 2 after the Super Round will play for gold while those in the Bottom 2 after the Super Round will play for bronze. These succeeding matches will test the PH girls’ resolve and grit as they aim to make a mark in the Women’s Softball Asia Cup and secure a coveted spot for the WBSC World Cup in 2024. The Cebuana Lhuillier-backed team won their opening mathes against Hongkong, 7-0, last Tuesday. The players headed by Daniela Cabangon, Che-Restcel Dela Cruz, Jeryll Duller, Ciarina Daniela Eder, Shein Espinosa, Trisha Karyl Hicayen, Angelica Jean Latriz, Rhea Manalo, Magdalene Nangan, Eileen Polvorido and Laira Dianne Silverio. The Head Coach is Ma. Lizviminda Jalandoni, accompanied by Assistant Coach Sheirylou Valenzuela, Pitching Coach Kaith Ezra Jalandoni, and Head of Delegation Dino Bernardo Lee.-Marlon Bernardino- Click here to view a list of other articles written by Marlon Bernardino. |
