Alexandra Sydney Paez spearheads Hongkong Bauhinia U-18 Invitational Chess Championships tournament entries

MANILA---PH chess wizard Alexandra Sydney Paez of Cabuyao, Laguna, 1st year College taking up Dentistry in De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences in Dasmarinas City will be showcasing her talent in the upcoming Hongkong Bauhinia U-18 Invitational Chess Championships to be held on Dec. 26 to 31, 2022 at the Regal Oriental Hotel, Kowloon City, Hongkong.
The 18-year-old Alexandra Sydney, daughter of Philippine Executive Chess Association (PECA) President Dr. Alfredo "Fred" Paez is a member of the DLSMHSI Chess Team, is under the tutelage of multi-titled coach, Fide Master Roel Abelgas.
Joining Alexandra Sydney are Mark Jay Bacojo of Dasmariñas, Cavite and Ayana Nicole Usman of Santa Rosa City, Laguna.
Other notable entrants are Isaac Hu, Hungi Yun, Guk Han and Mingeun Song of South Korea, Yiheng Li, Theodore Lukas Lam, Jamison Eldrich Kao and Shun Him Leung of Hongkong, Hsiu Elliot Wong Yen of Singapore, Sakkaranant Plakwongsirikul of Thailand, Jiu Yarng Clarence Foo, Zong Ze Cheah and Jing Er Claire Foo of Malaysia.
The FIDE rated tournament will follow a seven rounds Swiss system format with 90 minutes plus 30 seconds increment playing time.
The champion will earn HK$ 15,000 plus a trophy and a medal. The second placer will get HK$7,000 plus a medal, third HK$5,000 plus a medal, fourth HK $3,000 plus a medal, fifth HK $3,000 plus a medal and sixth HK $2,000 plus a medal.-Marlon Bernardino-
