Sabonis takes off as Kings down Warriors in Sacramento, 122-115

PhilBoxing.com

Tonight, Golden State lost their 7th game this season away from home; this time bowing to the Kings in Sacramento, 122-115. The Warriors looked good in the opening quarter and were up by as much as 15 points. Golden State’s night seemed too good to be true with their team shooting 60.9% FG and 54.5% on 3-PT with Curry leading the charge. Even their defense was spot on as they held the Kings to just 26 points in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the Kings revved up their engines and outpointed the Warriors 38-23.

By halftime, the Kings led 64-62 and never looked back.

Steve Kerr could not help but notice his team committed numerous mental errors resulting in turnovers that spilled over to the third quarter.

In the fourth, the score was tight, but the Kings had every box checked against the Warriors- this despite sporadic spurts from Klay Thompson who pushed the Warriors ahead briefly with a trey.
It was Sacramento’s night as they snapped a 7-game, head-to-head losing streak against the reigning NBA champions.

In so doing, the Kings denied the Warriors their third straight win.

Domantas Sabonis had a monster of a night and scored a team-high 26 points, 22 rebounds, and 8 assists---of note, it is the fourth 20/20 game of his Sabonis’ career.

De’Aaron Fox shone once again with 22 points, 4 rebounds, 8 assists.

K. Murray had 21 points and 4 rebounds.

K. Huerter contributed 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists.

As a team, Sacramento shot 51.6% FG and 43.2% 3-PT.

As a team, Golden State shot a decent 46.7% FG but a lowly 34.0% 3-PT.

Steph Curry led the Warriors with a team-high 27 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists.

Andrew Wiggins stepped up and poured in 26 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists.

Klay Thompson missed quite a few treys going only 5-13 from downtown, but still managed to shoot a respectable 17 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists.

Jordan Poole led the bench with 18 points, 3 assists and 1 rebound.

Upcoming:

Golden State Warriors: Face the Spurs in San Antonio on Monday, November 14, 2022.
