ESPN2 TO BROADCAST “BOX NYC” - NEW YORK CITY ’S PREMIER SOCIAL BOXING EVENT

NEW YORK – “Box-NYC” (www.box-nyc.com), one of New York ’s most popular and exciting boxing events, will for the first time be broadcast live on ESPN2 when the fourth edition of the event takes place on Wednesday, April 16 at New York ’s Hammerstein Ballroom.

ESPN will broadcast two fights starting at 10 pm eastern – Peter “Kid Chocolate Quillin against Antwun Echols followed by Chazz Witherspoon against Domunic Jenkins. In all, the evening will feature seven fights on the card.


In addition to the boxing, patrons can enjoy fine-dining, a Texas Hold ‘em Poker Tournament, model and celebrity appearances as well as a live and silent auction with proceeds going to The Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, the official charity of the event. Over the past three years, Jed Weinstein of Jed Weinstein Presents and the brainchild of BOX NYC has donated $100,000 to The Laureus Sport for Good Foundation through BOX NYC. Using sport as a tool for social change, The Laureus Sport for Good Foundation's mission is simple but crucial: to use sport as a tool for social change. Laureus targets the social and economic problems that plague communities across the U.S. and works with community members and local organizations - as well as some of the world's greatest athletes - to develop innovative sports programs to solve these problems.

Celebrity attendees expected to attending include New York Giant and Super Bowl hero David Tyree, former New York Knick John Starks, former New York Jet Joe Klecko among others. Past celebrities in attendance include John McEnroe, Serena Williams, Billy Crudup, Stella Keitel, The Gastineau Girls’ Lisa and Brittny Gastineau and Damon Dash among others.

The VIP tables start at the Bronze level for $3,250 for eight guests, that include gourmet dinner, top-shelf open bar, cigar bar, and an opportunity for poker buy-in, and go up to $8,000 for a ten guest at the Platinum Table, with ring side seats. Private boxes ($2,400 for twelve guests) and upper level seating ($55 per seat) are also available.

The Hammerstein Ballroom is located at 311 West 34th St , bet 8th & 9th Avenues. Doors will open for VIP at 6:30pm, and 7:30pm for general admission.
