NBA - - Butler is the main topic at Timberwolves Media Day 2018 By Daniel Quindao Guden PhilBoxing.com Tue, 25 Sep 2018 ![]() MINNEAPOLIS - When the Minnesota Timberwolves their 2018 Media Day 2018 on Monday, the topic was all about Jimmy "Buckets" Butler because of the sudden request for a trade last week during their meeting with Timberwolves President for Basketball Operations and head coach Tom "Thibs" Thibodeau in Los Angeles California. During Thibodeau and GM SCott Layden's opening statement at the Target Center before members of the media, he immediately addressed the Butler issue. ?Our job is to seek out the best trade for us, to find something that?s good for us and we?re interested in doing it, If not, we?re moving forward the other way.? said the NBA 2011 Coach of the Year awardee and former Chicago Bulls head coach. "That's why I always have my phone with me because a lot of people calling regarding Butler" Layden said. The LA Clippers, New York and Brooklyn's Nets are the front runner to acquire Butler. On the other hand Karl-Anthony Towns, the 2016 Rookie of the Year and Kentucky alum who just signed a $190 million 5-year extension with the Timberwolves said about Butler's request trade "Our relationship was fine, we had a common understanding that we both wanted to win". Meanwhile, Kansas Jayhawks product Andrew Wiggins said that he's optimistic the Timberwolves will make the playoff this year even without Bulter, "Every year we're getting better and we're mature already" said Wiggins, the 2015 Rookie of the Year. With ex-Bulls two-way player and wingman Bulter's departure another former Bulls forward will play for the Wolves this season in Luol Deng who just waived by the Los Angeles Lakers. Deng, will join former Thibs Chicago Bulls players who are now playing the Wolves in Derrick Rose and Taj Gibson. Gibson who gets the Timberbulls jokes because of the Timberwolves and their former team Bulls but he said "At the end of the day it's nice to be around guys who you know and respect. The Timberwolves Media Day 2018 that was held at the Target Center was well attended by 50 more or less sportswriters based in Minnesota (The Land of Ten Thousand Lakes) headed by the 98-year old famous sports caster/analyst Sid Hartman of WCCO New Talk 830 and at the same time columnist of Star Tribune Minneapolis.
