Costa: The Peñalosa Legend Continues with Dave, Carlo Battling African Foes

Plus: Reymart Gaballo and Marlon Tapales Back in Action
@ SM Skydome North EDSA on September 30

MANILA, Philippines -- The Pe?alosa Fearless Fighting Legend continues as the third generation of Pe?alosa warriors battle dangerous opponents Sunday (Sep 30) at SM North EDSA Skydome in Quezon City, Metro Manila, an exciting event set to be aired on ESPN 5 Philippines.

In the main event, unbeaten featherweight puncher "The Hunter" Dave Pe?alosa (13-0, 9 KO's), son of former world champion Dodie Boy Pe?alosa, put his undefeated record on the line as he takes on tough former Tanzanian Featherweight Champion Twalib Tuwa (21-5-2, 14 KO's) in a 12-round rumble that promises total action.

Will the "Hunter" Dave Pe?alosa hunt down the rough, more experienced African warrior? Or will it be the other way around?

In the co-main feature, 25 year-old "Too Sharp" Carlo Caesar Pe?alosa (12-1, 5 KO's) climbs up the square ring to engage 22 year-old Tanzanian fighter Jemsi Kibazange (11-2-2, 1 KO) in a 10-rounder flyweight clash valid for a regional belt.

Carlo Caesar - a southpaw, same as his world champion uncles Gerry and Dodie Boy - can not afford any mistake against his African foe Kibazange, a young boxer wanting so much to score a solid win that would propel his boxing career towards a higher level.

WORLD PLAYERS GABALLO AND TAPALES IN ACTION FIGHTS

In addition to the Pe?alosas, talented world players Reymart Gaballo and Marlon Tapales are set to see action in exciting non-title supporting battles.

Hard-hitting Reymart Gaballo (19-0, 16 KO's), the reigning Interim WBA Bantamweight World Champion of the Sanman Boxing Stable, will trade blows in a non-title 10-rounder against experienced Julias Kisarawe (29-6-1, 15 KO's) of Tanzania.

The clash is the first fight for the 22 year-old Gaballo since winning his WBA title belt last March at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, California.

Gaballo's WBA title is not on the line, rather a "stay-busy fight" useful to get Gaballo ready for a coming world title defense.

However, an accidental cut could derail plans for which Gaballo must be double effective, unleashing his attacks with accuracy and power, while being employing a solid defense and watching out for headbutts as fans do not want any cut on their champion's face.

What's more, former WBO titlist Marlon Tapales (30-2, 13 KO's) of Lanao del Norte squares off 23 year-old Goodluck Mrema (22-3, 12 KO's) of Tanzania in a ten-chapter war in the super bantamweight division.

In his last combat, Marlon Tapales, 26, brutalized world-ranked Japanese Shohei Omori, stopping the Nippon warrior in the eleventh round of their saga in Osaka, Japan.

Eyed by famed Golden Boy Promotions, Tapales can not afford tactical errors against his dangerous glory-hungry African foe.

Also in fighting mode is promising Nicaraguan bantamweight Melvin Lopez (16-0, 10 KO's) in an 8-stanza war against tough Zamboangue?o Jhunriel Ramonal (14-8-4, 7 KO's).

The 20 year-old Melvin Lopez - born in the land of Volcanoes and Lakes of boxing great Alexis Arguello - is a former WBA-NABA titlist, as well as a WBC Latino titlist, willing to put his unbeaten record at risk against the focus, well-trained Ramonal, a tough-nut eager to score a shocking win over the hard-hitting visiting Nicaraguan.

More action fights complete the exciting boxing show Sunday (Sep 30) produced by promoter Gerry Pe?alosa of GerryPens Promotions in association with ESPN 5 Philippines and Sanman Boxing Promotions.
