Filipino Fide Master Jony Habla wins 4th Thailand Rapid Chess Championships 2018 to add to growing trophy collection

FILIPINO Fide Master Johny Habla added the 4th Thailand Rapid Chess Championships 2018 Open to the growing collection of trophies under its belt.
Habla, a former top player of Novelty Novaliches Chess Club and stalwart of PUP chess team during his College days tallied 7.5 points in nine outings, the same output of second placer former University of Sto Tomas top skipper Gerald Ferriol.
Habla, however, took first place by virtue of superior 51.5 tie break points against 49 of Ferriol in the 15 minutes plus 10 seconds increment rapid time control format.
Habla and Ferriol are both chess instructors in Thailand.
Thai Fide Master Thanadon Kulpruethanon and Filipino Necomedus Dimayuga occupied third and fourth places, respectively with 7 points each.
Rounding up to the top-14 circle were Mohamad Sacar (5th, 6.5 pts.) of the Philippines, Tupfah Khumnorkaew (6th, 6.5 pts.), Sarocha Chuemsakul (7th, 6.5 pts.), Noppakorn Tantipura (8th, 6.5 pts.) and Sahapol Nakvanich (9th, 6.5 pts.) of Thailand, Ryan Dungca (10th, 6 pts.) and National Master Winston Joseph Silva (11th, 6 pts.) of the Philippines, Thoetsak Wongsawan (12th, 6 pts.) and Atippat Pornariyasombat (13th, 6 pts.) of Thailand and Paul Batchis (14th, 6 pts.) of the United States.
