TIM TSZYU READY TO LEAVE HIS MARK ON TOOWOOMBA PhilBoxing.com Thu, 20 Jul 2017 TIM TSZYU IS READY. The rising star of Australian boxing arrived in the Garden City today with his grand father Boris Tszyu and his manager Glen Jennings for the official press conference launch of TGW & Smithy Brings the Big Fights 17 at Potters Boutique Hotel. "I'm very thankful to have the opportunity to fight in front of the Toowoomba fans," Tszyu said. "It's exciting, I've been travelling all over Australia and now the next stop is here in Toowoomba. "I'm ready, I hope Chris Khan brings it to the ring, I don't take any opponent lightly and I'm looking forward to the challenge. "I'm just excited to get back into the ring on Saturday night." His manager Glen Jennings added: "Congratulations to Toowoomba on getting to see another Tszyu in the early stages of a career that's going to go a long way. "I'm sure you will enjoy what Tim does in the ring, he looks like his dad, to a degree he fights like his dad but he is his own fighter and you will see that on Saturday night." Reigning Australian champion Rivan Cesaire also arrived in town today and was short on words vowing to do his talking in the ring. "I'm very happy to be here, I'm ready for a great fight and put on a show for the fans," Cesaire said. His trainer Sam Damore was equally short on words however he was a little more forthright. "We haven't come up here to lose our title, we've come up here to keep it, that's it," Damore said. Challenger Jamie Hilt is hoping to dethrone Cesaire who's held the belt for over three years. "Thanks to Sam and Rivan for accepting the challenge," Hilt said. "I believe it's going to be a good fight and I'm ready to go." Hilt's trainer Craig Monagle added: "I hope Rivan hasn't taken Jamie lightly, Jamie's up to the challenge." On an exciting undercard the likes of Herman Ene-Purcell, Steven Spark, Brent Moore and Steven Spark will look to build on their careers. The night will also unveil two debutantes Chris Brackin and Gavan Hornery. "Our guys are ready to go," Smithy's TGW Gym assistant trainer Corban Kanoveilomani said. "They've had a great training camp. "They all have very tough fights ahead of them but they're well prepared. "It's now about taking what we've done in the gym into the ring on Saturday night." |
