NBA PLAYOFFS -- Warriors sweep Spurs, enter NBA Finals for third straight year PhilBoxing.com Tue, 23 May 2017 ![]() CHICAGO -- The Golden State Warriors' offensive machine continues to destroy everything in its path, this time eliminating the vaunted San Antonio Spurs following a 129-115 Game 4 win on Monday night at the AT&T Center. The Warriors, who swept the Western Conference Finals, 4-0, became the first team in NBA playoffs history to start at 12-0. They will appear in the NBA Finals for the third consecutive year and will face the winner of the ongoing Eastern Conference Finals showdown between the Boston Celtics and the defending NBA champions Cleveland Cavaliers. Despite losing three key players to injuries (Kawhi Leonard, Tony Parker and David Lee), the Spurs put up a big fight, but they trailed early after Golden State erected a 31-19 bubble at the end of the opening quarter. Steph Curry led the charge with 36 points and 6 assists while Kevin Durant dropped 29 and 12 boards for the Warriors, who hot 55.8 percent from the field and 35.9 percent from long distance. Klay thompson added 10 while Shaun Livingston finished with 12 off the bench. "It's great to be one of the last two teams standing, we'll see how it goes," Durant told ESPN. This is Durant's second NBA Finals appearance and his first with the Warriors after leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder this past summer. In perhaps his last game after decorated career that gave him two All-Star nods and four NBA titles, Manu Ginobili started and chalked 15 points in 32 minutes. "We started him out of respect.....I did not want to miss on the opportunity to honor him in front of our home fans for his selflessness over the years," Spurs head coach told the Associated Press. Ginobili, according to multiple reports, will not contemplate retirement until after the end of the season. But just in case he decides to walk away, the home showed him some loving feeling, chantinf "Manu!! Manu!!" as Game 4 was winding down. Kyle Anderson led the Spurs with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Jonathon Simmons had 13 while LaMarcus Aldridge struggled with only 8 points, shooting 4-of-11 from the floor.
