TABUGON READY FOR ESTRADA

PhilBoxing.com

Raymond Tabugon will fight Juan Francisco Estrada who vacated his World Boxing Organization and World Boxing Association flyweight titles after suffering a hand injury which sidelined him since September 2015.

Tabugon and Estrada will clash in the super flyweight and the showdown will happen tomorrow in Estrada's home turf Puerto Penasco, Mexico.

During the official weighin, Estrada tipped in the scales at 116-pounds, while Tabugon weighed higher at 116.5-pounds.

Estrada (33-2, 24 KOs) announced that he had fully recovered from his right hand injury. Tabugon (18-5-1, 8 KOs) will try to overcome all odds in the scheduled ten rounder organized by Zanfer Promotions.

?Tabugon and his team arrived ahead of his fight with Estrada,? said his promoter Jean Claude Manangquil as quoted by Fight News. ?Tabugon?s preparation is OK. And he is good to go for October 8. I expect Tabugon to fight hard like he always does. This is a big opportunity for him.?

Tabugon last won against Renante Suacasa by a 6th round TKO win to capture the PBF super flyweight title last March 8 in T?boli, South Cotabato.

?This is a big opportunity for me. I am fighting a very good world class boxer but I will not be intimidated and will do everything to get an upset,? said Tabugon as told to Boxing Scene.

During Estrada's last bout, he retained his WBA super world flyweight and WBO world flyweight crowns winning a 10th round knockout over Hernan Marquez last September 26, 2015 in Mexico.

Estrada is eyeing a rematch with WBC World super flyweight champion Roman ?Chocolatito? Gonzalez (46-0-0, 38 KOs), the world's top pound-for-pound fighter, who recently won against Carlos Cuadras last September 10 in Inglewood, California.

The 26-year-old Estrada defeated Brian Viloria three years ago. He defended his titles against former champions Hernan Marquez and Giovani Segura, among other tough challengers. Estrada is rated the No. 1 contender by The Ring in the flyweight division.

The 25-year-old Tabugon from General Santos City suffered a fifth round technical knockout loss to Makazole Tete in South Africa in his last bout on July 29 and was stopped by Juan Hernandez Navarrete in November of 2015 in their tussle in Mexico.

Manangquil said that Tabugon already had five weeks of preparation. ?Juan Francisco is a really good boxer. It will be a tough assignment for Tabugon,? he added. ?But, in boxing, you never know. We will do everything to make an upset.?
