TACONING DISPLAYS TERRIFIC FORM IN PUBLIC TRAINING DISPLAY

PhilBoxing.com

World Boxing Council light flyweight mandatory challenger Jonathan Taconing put on a terrific display in his final public training session in downtown Mexico City with scores of fans watching the Filipino southpaw and the reigning champion Ganigan Lopez who is also a southpaw go through their routines.

The WBC informed The Standard that ?the fists of the Filipino, Jonathan Taconing, travelled with maximum velocity towards the outstretched mittens of his trainer, while his legs coordinated like lightning.?

After concluding his public training in downtown Mexico City, Taconing ?assured that he`s fit, strong and ready to conquer the WBC light flyweight championship, which is in the determined grasps of fellow southpaw Ganigan Lopez.?

For his part, the WBC reported that ?Ganigan also looked pretty damned fast. He was accompanied and supervised by Japanese trainer, Ken Nishide.?

Since his controversial loss to then c hampion Kompayak Porpramook in Thailand in 2012 when the late WBC president Don Jose nSulaiman suspended South Korean referee for his lousy performance, Taconing has piled up nine fights in a row.

The 34 year old Lopez, five years older than Taconing won the title last March with a majority decision over Japanese champion Yu Kimura in Kyoto, Japan.

Liza Elorde whose husband Johnny Elorde has said Taconing had trained hard and was in great condition both physically and mentally and that during a face-off at the WBC, Taconing looked cool and calm but that Lopez looked nervous and had said it would be the toughest fight of his career.

The management team of Johnny and Liza Elorde said that despite the fact that the original fight date was set back, in the process disturbing Taconing?s training schedule.

Taconing has trained rigorously and sparred a total of 160 rounds against Benezer Alolod, Ruel Rosia, Robert Onggocan, Jerome Clabite, Felipe Cagobgob, Cris Alfante and Edward Semillano.

Boxing Scene?s Jake Donovan has described the hard-hitting Taconing as ?a dangerous opponent? for champion Ganigan Lopez.

Lopez who is also a southpaw has a record of 27-6 with 17 knockouts and faces a dangerous mandatory challenger in southpaw Jonathan Taconing.

Lopez told Boxing Scene ?I know he?s coming with all of his might to take my title and bring it home to the Philippines.?
