KRIS GEORGE TO MEET UNDEFEATED KIWI BOWYN MORGAN PhilBoxing.com Mon, 13 Jun 2016 Kris George vs Bowyn Morgan on the undercard of Duco card headlined by Joseph Parker. HEAVY HITTING WELTERWEIGHT KRIS GEORGE WILL TRAVEL TO NEW ZEALAND ON JULY 21 TO FIGHT UNDEFEATED KIWI BOWYN MORGAN in an eight round welterweight contest in Christchurch. The bout will be one of the star attractions on the Duco promoted card headlined by the heavyweight contest between Jospeh Parker and Solomon Haumono. Morgan is 7-0 in the pro ranks with 4 knockouts while George is 10-1 with 5 knock outs. "This is the fight I've been waiting for," Kris George said. "It's on a big card with a wide audience and all my work will pay off in this fight. "I know that I'm fitter, faster, stronger and smarter than my opponent. "I'm going into this fight supremely confident that I will get the job done. "I cannot wait for July 21." It's a mouth watering match between two of Australasia's best and brightest prospects. Morgan had a decorated amateur record progressing through to the quarter finals of the 2014 Commonwealth Games as well as a silver medal at the 2012 Oceania titles. In the pro ranks he's made an instant impact undefeated after seven bouts with four by knock out. He's already claimed the New Zealand national welterweight title. George can boast similar credentials. He's suffered only one defeat in ten bouts. He's on the hunt for another title shot after previously holding the Queensland welter weight title and a WBA Oceania belt. "Kris rises to the occasion when the stakes are the highest," George's trainer Craig Monagle said. "The bigger the stage the better Kris performs. "A perfect example is when he fought Ozan Craddock for the State title at just his sixth career bout. "No one gave us a chance and Kris went to another level and won in spectacular fashion. "Kris has made it no secret he wants a shot at Jeff Horn. "This fight with Bowyn Morgan is promoted by Duco - who represent Jeff Horn so what better stage to make a statement. "A win over Bowyn Morgan in his own backyard will make plenty of people stand up and take notice. "We respect Bowyn Morgan, but this is a fight we're confident Kris can win." It's set to be the first time George has fought outside Queensland. The Duco promotion, staged at the Horncastle Arena in Christchurch will gain world wide attention. "A big thanks to Stu Duncan and all the Duco team for their professionalism in negotiating this bout," George's Manager Brendon Smith said. "Duco is doing big things in boxing and it was great to deal with Stu Duncan to put together this exciting fight. "I believe it will be the fight of the night. "Two boys with impeccable records, two boys who can punch and two boys who are regarded as champions in the making. "This is a great opportunity for Kris, I'm sure he will take it with both hands." |
