LEAGUE OF FISTS: SUPER WELTER SEMIS AND SEASON TWO MATCHES

SHANGHAI, CHINA- The super welterweight season one semi-finals presented one of the more captivating match-ups in the League of Fists boxing tournament with four undefeated boxers fighting for slots in the championship round.

Both Luo Qiang and Su Cheng started with guns blazing in the opening round, unloading their power shots. But Luo made adjustments in the subsequent rounds that were more to his pace and employed a stick and move routine.

Su pressed the action but Luo managed to hold him off with clean counters for a majority decision win.

The scores ? Mekin Sumon ? 57-57, with Atty. Danrex Tapdasan ? 59-55 and Sungworn Klongboonkrung ? 58-56 for Luo.

In the second semi-final bout, Li Tonghui vs Alimu Tuerson was also a battle of contrasting styles. Li was more aggressive but Alimu managed to tame him with his reach, lateral movement and counterpunches.

All three judges had it for Alimu ? Surat Soikrachang (58-56), Mekin Sumon (59-55) and Sungworn Klongboonkrung (58-56).

For the bouts of Season Two in the super lightweight division:

Abudureyimu Nuermaimaiti beat Wang Songlin by unanimous decision (40-36 from Sungworn Klungboonkrung, Danrex Tapdasan and Surat Soikrachang)

Fu Kaisheng showed excellent skills and ring generalship in beating Wulan Amantai also by unanimous verdict. (40-36 from Yang Hong, Tao Zhendong and Cao Hengxiang).

Yang Yongqiang stopped Han Jie in the third round. Han was knocked down in the third round. He got up but turned his back as referee Surat Soikrachang reached the count of ten. Time - 2:12.

For the bouts in the middleweight division:

Aorigele won by unanimous decision over Pan Hao. (39-37 from judges Yang Hong, Tao Zhendong and Cao Hengxiang)

Wulamu Tulake got a majority decision over Liu Liang. (Zhao Yanfang ? 38-38, Han Hongxiang ? 40-36,Yan Wenyong ? 39-37)

Huang Juxiang beat Yesibolesen Jianati by TKO in the third round. Yesibolesen turned his back claimed exhaustion. Time 1:20.

For the superflyweight bouts:

Zhou Bin knocked down Maheshati Kuwantai in the third round and prevailed by unanimous decision. Maheshati also suffered a cut on the right eyelid due to a clash of heads in the 4th. Scores ? Yan Wenyong ? 38-37, Sungworn Klongboonkrung ? 39-36 and Zhao Yubin ? 39-36.

Naiwuzhati Nuermaimaiti won by unanimous decision over Hu Liang in a bloody, bruising fight. Naiwuzhati had to fight through a nosebleed in the third. Hu had welts under both eyes. Scores ? 40-36 from Han Hongxiang, Yin Hayang and Zhao Yanfang.

The second of a back to back fight card was held Saturday at Star Space in Shanghai. The bouts were officiated by the Professional Boxing Commission of China (PBCC). The League of Fists boxing tournament is promoted by Seca and Top Rank and is an ongoing grassroots search for boxing talent in mainland China. The winner in the tournament finals will be crowned Greater China champions in their respective divisions by the WBO.
